Cupid is cute Pepe.
No flowers here, I asked him not to buy them. It was forecast for 40degrees here today and any flowers for sale would be dead by the time I got home. He bought prawns instead. They were yummy!

We had a fox here in the back lane this morning it was barking.
after chooks, bloody thing i know our back yard is pretty secure and it would be impossible for it to dig under the fence.
i have also heard the roos have taken over the gold course too. sad really, food must be pretty scarce.
i know as well for the amount of magpies and kookies we are feeding atm. not to mention other meat eating birds.

I’m not sure what I think about this one. I was just in my local little (IGA) supermarket when a nice tidy, clean looking older man came in and gave the checkout operator several used plastic bags. The same as the ones they put your stuff in there - I assume he got them there. She didn’t seem to think it was anything unusual so I suppose he does it regularly. Anyway, she loaded them onto the bag holder thingy and then put some of my stuff, including unwrapped veges, in one of them. Now, I’m all for reusing and recycling but it made me feel just a little bit uncomfortable. I don’t know what has been in those bags before hand, and I’m not sure that is completely up to health regulations either? I didn’t say anything, but now wonder if maybe I should have.
What do you all think? And how would you have reacted?

i think i would have a word to the manager, at least, and maybe the state health dept if you got the impression that it happens regularly, that is a no no imo

imo used plastic bags handed back into supermarkets should only be collected if they're participating in a recycling program.. Where the used bags are sent away to the recycling depot.
The cost of new bags is factored into prices, so customers should be given new bags.
Yes, issue you don't know what was in them before..could be weedkiller from the garden section.
We take our own bags.. No free ones here.

I don't like the idea either. I take all of my used bags back and put them in the recyclable plastics bin. What if someone had a leaky raw chicken package in that bag and your fruit goes in with it?
I had to correct that. I put 'and your friend goes in with it' and not your fruit and I don't even use predictive text. Wake up brain.

hehehe at the idea of my friend going into the bag Thanks for your thoughts. I was concerned I might be being a bit paranoid. I’ll say something to the manager if I see it again.

I don't like the idea of recycled plastic bags where food is concerned Kay
I recycle mine by giving them to OP shops to use, which is a bit different

I bought some maternity clothes ( expensive brands, very clean) at a market for someone else. The lady put them in a supermarket bag and said I should wash them as they were in a used supermarket bag.
Very fastidious.. She wouldn't want her food in a used supermarket bag....

i agree, those bags should be in the recycling, or ONLY used for HIS groceries. that's dangerous, bacteriawise.

we went shopping today, OMG, there was SO many people with fear in their eyes, frantically buying half dead flowers and boxes of chocolates! a young man i see there frequently gave me a red carnation on my way out,and wished me happy valentine's, i thought that was very nice of him.

I would not have let her use them for me. Even though the gentleman looked clean, you don't know him and someone else in his family could have used those bags for anything before he took them back. A word to the manager is in order.

You may not see much of me for a while - I've just treated myself to a 6 month subscription with Ancestry.com.au and I'm busy digging skeletons out of the family closet. (or should that be dead cats out of the linen press?)

That can be very, very time consuming Penny. I tried but gave up because I am always so time poor and asked our resident supreme expert (Flashie) to help. I am glad I did :)

Penny, each time I delve into my family history, I end up going down so many rabbit holes that lead to some surprising discoveries.

Flashie, I've been keeping an eye out for Caramilk but nowhere has it except for local Coles and they've never got any on the shelf. Just the ticket for it. I'll keep checking.

I haven't seen it either.
Flashie, is it worth asking for your chocolate to be replaced? Or asking for some to be put aside when the next stock comes in? Or have you done that already.
