Damn! I hope they only have minor symptoms and get all the help and care they need. I think we are all going to have a similar story to share soon

That's rotten news, Fig. I hope they have a quick recovery.

Yes, both fully vaccinated. They're making the most of Woolworths (unlimited) grocery deliveries. They only live about 10 mins away so we can drop stuff off there.

Figgy are they unwell or are they doing it OK?

There's an NRL player fighting for his life with it. Plus Andrew Johns ex NRL
player hospitalized whilst holidaying. He is fine now. So if big fit blokes are
going down with it, it's a worry.

The flip side of that lyn, is that some of those who think they are young, fit and able to rely on their own “strength” might get the message and finally get on the vaccination bus.

Figgy are they unwell or are they doing it OK? Daughter says it is worse today (but not serious illness) heavy head, sneezing, congestion, nose blowing, achey body, feeling groggy, cough. No loss of taste. Partner caught it earlier, he had the same symptoms but is feeling much better today.

That's good news, they will be OK by the sounds of that. The elderly chap
was coughing and spluttering on the phone when he rang. He said he was
feeling much better that day. Rooster man is taking their bins out later, I have
gloves ready for him to put on.

What a worry for you Figlet - thank goodness they are fully vaxxed. I do hope they'll soon be feeling much better. We've been so cocooned here in WA we have tended to think it only happens to 'other people.' Having it find its way into our close little group suddenly makes it very real. (and very scary) I really dread what is inevitably going to happen after February 5th when we open all our borders

We opened our borders December 15th.
And it has gone crazy since then.
We went from no cases to gazillions.
Tasmanians are not happy.......not happy at all.

It's our turn soon Flashie and I'm not looking forward to it, even with my son away. He's done isolation here twice already so it can be done.

Joono..............it is awful. The tourists came..............covid spread. But..............Tasmanian's stayed home. Now a lot of our restaurants are closing because all the staff are in quarantine. We just had our Taste of Tasmania (I think they have renamed it this year).............hardly anyone went........they even stopped charging entry. No one can get tested because they are mostly closed over New Year..........and those FEW that are open are turning people away about 8.30 in the morning because they are capacity. You wont get told if you are a close contact anymore..........so what is the point of the check ins. The new RAT test thingies are the new toilet paper. But hey...............we still will be having the test match here...............

I am so sick of Scott Morrison and his deliberate attempt to shut down the country and let his donors control the RAT.
You guessed it. Harvey Norman and other organisations get to buy up big so they can make a fortune out of this.

I finally got my hands on some RATs. I ordered 10 online between Christmas and NY and before the prices went crazy and they turned up this morning. There are none in any stores in my LGA according to the local Facebook page.

I don't think the RATs should be free for all but I do think they should be sold at a lower set price.
926 new covid cases here. One of our testing sites has no power from the big storm last night..so that will put pressure on the other covid testing sites.

The brother of one of the families camping with ours has tested positive in Canberra. He’s doing okay, but the problem is he is house and dog sitting for them and is now isolating at their place so they have nowhere to go home to on Thursday. What a mess

That is a mess, Kay Lyn - I hope your friends family aren't hit too hard with covid. Was the Christmas dinner at her house or the others? My two covid cases - they have yet to be contacted by ACT Health but the Police called in on them today. They made the lad only go out into the driveway with a mask on so they could see him. The Police also looked into their neighbours house (two houses close to each other on same lot). Daughter was worried the neighbours might think they're crims.

It’s good to know that the police are checking. It might deter people from doing the wrong thing and still circulating when they are positive. I found a new site today that lists positive cases by postcode rather than LGA so it has more relevant local detail. There are just over 9000 in my pc and we have 5 current cases - 1 new one in each of the past 2 days. That has made me feel a bit better. covid19nsw.ethan.link/postcode/2000 but it is only NSW I’m afraid

I've been holding my breath all afternoon. Our favourite lunch spot has had a staff member test positive and exposure was between 20th December and the 30th. We (sisters and I) were there for lunch on the 22nd. We've been waiting for it to come up on the healthywa website on whether we have to get tested (even though it was nearly two weeks ago). They have now changed the dates to between 29th and 31st, so they've narrowed it down. Just as well because we all ready have a lunch reservation at another place this week It's not good though. It seems like Perth is next to get hit hard.

Will do Clara The lunch was at her daughters place. Her son and daughter have been knocked about with it. She isolated but no symptoms at all.

*cough* it might not have been the jab that caused that 😉😉

True Kay, but these anti vaxxers will blame the jab. Another friend and her hubbie set sail for the GC before Christmas. She driving and him on his bike. They were tested prior to leaving. Got to the service center at Ballina to wait out their test results coming through to allow them over the border. His came through at 10.30pm that night NEG her's came through later in the night POS. So........... they had to return home. She got tested again here. Guess what NEG. After ordering groceries online to sit it out they transferred the grocery order to their daughter's place at Robina and took of again. Thankfully the pair of them never seem to be fazed by adversity laughing the entire time she was telling me the story
