That's good the younger ones haven't been exposed. Stressful times for parents of school children.,

Disturbing scenes from the protest in Melb yesterday, protestors wuth their Trump flags and carrying gallows with nooses. The rally was addressed by Craig Kelly (who must be double vaxxed to cross the border into Vic) despite him telling his dumb anti vax followers not to get vaxxed
I did ask him about it on twitter, so he blocked me, so I take it that he is double vaxxed

He's not worried Deb. Yet. I read that they will make a decision on Monday about our border control. At the moment it's still open to South Africa

I just made an appointment for tomorrow morning for my booster. I had an appointment at my usual GP for early January (6 months) but when I checked on the covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/booking/ site I found one at another clinic here in town. I’m happy 😃

Well, we made it into Qld. At Brisbane airport all the people off the flight were waiting around the luggage carousel with maybe 4-6 police officers strolling among us randomly selecting people to show their border pass and 2x vaxx certificate. It was all pretty casual and not at all what I was expecting.
Our son, who owns a bar in Brisbane and whom we are visiting, is expecting the shit to hit the fan tomorrow when they have to start checking customers vaxx status

Mandatory masks here from midnight tonight. Fine with me, I wear one when out anyway.
The masks also helps with the high pollen count in the air here, which makes me cough. No one wants to be around coughing people these days.

We have to wear masks inside now too................(I hate wearing them) I know the rest of Australia has been doing for ages............but it is the first time here. Well except for the 3 day lock down and crowds of over 1000. Did I say I HATE wearing them..........

I don’t actually mind them all that much now that I’ve worked out how to wear one so my glasses don’t fog up. The only really annnoying thing is I’ve lost a couple of earrings because they have got hooked up in ear strings and fallen out 😪

I sometimes wear one when I'm cleaning the shower! Especially that CLR cleaner (great for the glass shower screen) because it plays havoc with my lungs.

I have started doing that as well, joono. The spray fumes get a bit much. Even though the bathroom cleaners I use are not really heavy duty ones.

Wearing a mask is almost second nature now. I would love to know how to stop the glasses fogging up issue.

I've found the N95 (papery) ones should be best because they have wire in the top that you can mold around your nose. I also think they are the safest but a lot of people would rather do the vain thing and get a fashionable one.
Still okay, but N95 ones I think are the most comfortable and 'breathable', they're just not pretty. I must get a new supply because a Queensland couple have tested positive to the omicron strain. They landed on Sunday night and self quarantined at family home. Other people in the house have tested negative so far.
It's big news in WA because so far we are doing okay. It's going to come to us too.

Clarabelle, make sure the little metal strip is tightly shaped over your nose and high enough so the bottom edge of your glasses sit on top of the top edge of the mask. Himself also found if he washes his glasses in dishwasher detergent it helps

Thanks for the tips - about the N95 and moulding the top round your nose so your glasses don't fog up. We are going to have to stock up because once our borders come down it will probably only be days before we start getting community transmission here. I'd be quite happy to keep the borders closed. While I do have grandkids over East, I can live without seeing them for bit longer. I left all my family behind when I came to Australia and didn't get to see them again for eight years - there was no zoom or facetime in those day either and phone calls to the UK were hideously expensive.

I have some n95 masks, but I only use them when I know I’m going in to a high risk area. Usually I just have the surgical type ones or a cloth one my sister made me. They all have the mouldable metal piece (looks a like like a wire twist tie in most of them) but I still seem to fog up my glasses. With this new variant and less restrictions I would advocate the p2/n95 rated masks. We have 7 new cases including a hospital worker today. That’s a worry.

A friend told me today their extended family Christmas has been cancelled because the hostess has covid. She (the hostess) is the principal at a massive secondary school in Sydney. Their school formal turned into a super spreader event. The principal wasn’t at the formal, but caught it from a colleague she spent the next day with - preparing Christmas gifts for her staff, would you believe it!
What my friend, and her family member, is most infuriated about is that she (the principal) is receiving abuse from the school community because she isn’t communicating what is happening. She, and all schools apparently, have been directed by the Education Dept that they are not allowed to tell anyone anything. All information MUST come from the Minister only. It is a diabolical situation. Apparently covid is rampant in Sydney schools and no one is being told

Mr had his roosters mask on when we had an appt at the Hospital. They made him take it
off and put one of their disposable face masks on. He wasn't impressed.
