people just don't seem to understand ( many american grownups, i mean) that this generation actually understands that they can create their own future, and are doing exactly that.

Looks like as good a place as any to jump in- hope everyone is well!
Maybe I'll start posting on this board more often- the, "You're a brain-dead stoner slut" responses- and the, "Oh Yeah?! Let's talk about Planned Parenthood!!" approach when it comes to gun control gets a little old.
Then again, angry old white guys are the strength behind lax gun laws. Sorry fellas- it's time to loosen your grip.
No one is trying to take guns away- an impossible task- but one would think that the typical law-abiding gun owner favors tighter restrictions.
When law enforcement agencies are selling confiscated weapons back to the public, there's something fundamentally wrong with the whole system.
We enable the mass shooter by supplying their weapons- and then claim they would have rented a truck to kill people- if guns were illegal... such bullshit...
But that's OK- most people see through the, "Old Angry White Guy" rhetoric. I see some positive change on the horizon. Thanks, young people!

Do you really think they will make a difference this time dalt? It seemed, from the outside anyway, that change would come after Sandy Hook but then it all just faded away - until the next time. I hope enough people are galvanised to make changes but I don’t hold my breath.

I think this is a, "Straw that broke the camel's back" moment.
Untold pain and suffering- and still the NRA holds firm to the same old worn out line. "We need more guns to protect ourselves from those with more guns."
You can blow that NRA message straight out your arse.

yeah... they must be making trillions too.. that's what it's really all about
"We need more guns to protect ourselves from those with more guns."
if it keeps going that way. you're all going to need your own personal tanks to get to your local shops in the future

Fheck the NRA. It's time for a new generation to take charge.

there's the rub, deb, they DON'T need them at all. to paraphrase madara, they're just dick extensions that go bang a whole bunch of times, REALLY fast. good to see you here, dalt! this whole thing with major corporations disassociating themselves from the nra is a REALLY good sign, especially since they are taking away the discounts that were never anything but discriminatory anyway. young people across the country are stepping up and speaking out, and they are doing it brilliantly, imho. they are telling the politicians that they can and will vote them out, and they are talking to adults about it too. there were 6 young folks at the museum today, they talked to us,and everyone willing to listen, and they did it calmly and intelligently. and the majority of grownups LISTENED! in KANSAS!! it was great!

It's appalling that survivors of the school shooting are now getting death threats. I want them to stay strong and keep on going with the amazing job they are doing.
Fuck the NRA.

I'm amazed to find that the NRA is classed as a non for profit charity and doesn't even pay any tax... their profits must go into political donations

It IS registered as a 501c(4) nonprofit, by LAW... " ...To be operated exclusively to promote social welfare, an organization must operate primarily to further the common good and general welfare of the people of the community (such as by bringing about civic betterment and social improvements.)"I was, somehow, totally unaware of this fact ( and the LEGAL requirement of that status).

I am not going to accept that someone is "good" based on someone else's opinion.
I so disagree with some voices online about what they think may or may not think about a particular poster even though I respect their voices n general.
" Different strokes for different folks"....Sly and the Family Stone(I think)
I accept your personal opinion, why not?....but I'll stick with my own.
What I am saying is that if you say "I think that he is a good man" works for me and I respect that.
Saying that "he's a good man" not so much.

That is so true, Bean. Most of my adversaries I've never had anything to do with, which is a pretty dumb thing.

I don't much like Trump- but gotta give credit where credit is due. Glad he's standing up to the NRA... the momentum is there for some common sense changes to the stupidly lax gun laws.
