Maggie Gardener @methusheilah 12h12 hours ago More Maggie Gardener Retweeted Ads-Up #BreakfastNews #auspol Seriously? What sort of deal did the miserable LNP government do with the US that leaves asylum seekers with a huge debt to set foot on US soil?Maggie Gardener added, Ads-Up @adsup4refugees The final #KidsOffNauru arrive in the US in a few hours and despite arriving with barely more than the clothes on their backs, they will soon be handed debt notices of up to $12,000 to repay the flights. You can’t make this up 🤦♀️

That's true, Joono. If I remember correctly, they are given assistance for three months, then, they are on their own and must repay the airfare.

This was a delightful little story to wake up to this morning Peter Dutton claims Australians will be 'kicked off' hospital waiting lists in favour of refugees
By Michael Koziol February 28, 2019 — 5.25pm
Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton has used the departure of the last refugee children off Nauru to increase the pressure on Labor over the medical transfers legislation and claim Australians will be "kicked off" waiting lists for healthcare and public housing. The assertion was rubbished by crossbench MP and doctor Kerryn Phelps, the primary architect of the legislation, who said it was nonsense to suggest the small caseload would squeeze Australia’s hospital system.www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/peter-dutton-claims-australians-will-be-kicked-off-hospital-waiting-lists-in-favour-of-refugees-20190228-p510w6.html

He'd qualify as a jozo... just claims any old bs (his fibs about refugees and waiting lists for Australian residents for starters)... which is not acceptable for a man in his position

MANUS UPDATE: On Thursday 50 #Paladin workers came to #Manus from Port Moresby. Fri 2/3/19, 25 of them came by bus to work in East but local workers turned them away, told them to go back to Port Moresby. Another 25 are expected to arrive for work today in West & to also be turned away. It is said that local Paladin workers have been offered a pay rise making their wages now 7 kina an hour ($2.90 Aus). @manusalert

A couple of things in that paragraph worry me Maggie
"Because they have the opportunity"
And
"The temptation to exploit their power over children"

I'm not Catholic, but as a parent I wouldn't want to 'give them the opportunity"" at all

So now the Victorian Liberal party are going to double the amount originally allocated to save Frydenberg's seat and are willing to spend "whatever it takes".
