I am incredibly ignorant when it comes to politics. I don't even know which party is currently in charge of the country.
In this campaign I am liking the labour partys false promises better than the other parties pretendy promises.

Has it come down to that? Fake news vs alternate facts? Honestly? Yes, I think it has. I don’t see any of them as having any integrity at all. With the possible exception of Plibersek and Wong.

Last night we went to a friends place, so we had a late night and were having a look at CNN im the early hours.. Much to my surprise we saw a film of Scott Morrison's "international women's day" speech and a CNN commentator called him "an ignorant neanderthal" I hope he saw that too

What an embarrassment he is. That he said that in 2019 is unbelievable..let alone him being our PM at the time.
60+? years ago young women with jobs had to give them up when they got married. Then later they got sacked if pregnant.
When I worked in a bank in the late 1970's there was no hope of me progressing far..managers, 2nd in charge all? males.
The first grad job my daughter got in 2015..after she'd been there 6 mths or so a Senior Partner took her and another girl out to lunch and said he hoped they'd stay on after their grad year and that path for promotions is same for female and males..not a male orientated culture. Good to hear, even though she did move on. My eldest was the only girl in her IT class at high school (rest were geeky boys)..other kids used to tease her about being in that class. She wanted to change subjects..but I said.. girls can do anything..don't take any notice. She got excellent marks at IT at school and Uni, it was her 2nd degree.

i took electronics at my vocational high school in the late 70's, i was the only girl in all of my classes, it was an experience that made me who i am now. when we went to boston to test for our tech licenses, the testing instructors ALL asked me why i was there. my classmates got a bit defensive and told them i was there for the same reason they were, because i worked my butt off and earned the right to those licenses. i'd likely be rich if i'd gone on to MIT or something and stayed in the field, but i couldn't handle all the time alone, so i got serious about cooking instead.

Now my son is one of those geeky boys Penny.. Scott Morrison needs a very big reality check. He's not even that old, so he shouldn't have such out of date thoughts.

thanks Deb - it make sickening reading, doesn't it? The very idea of a white man, of European background, living in Australia and complaining about being outnumbered by 'invaders' would be laughable if the circumstances weren't so terrible. And Dylan Thomas must be turning in his grave to see his poem used as a preamble to such violent bigotry.

and here it is......... A controversial federal MP has sparked outrage for blaming Islamic immigration for the Christchurch mosque shooting which has killed 40 people.
Independent Queensland senator Fraser Anning said while any form of violence could never be justified, the growing fear of the 'increasing Muslim presence' was behind the massacre.
'The real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program that allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place,' he tweeted shortly after the Friday afternoon shootings. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6812419/Outrage-Australian-politician-blames-immigration-Christchurch-mosque-shooting.html

The real cause was an AUSTRALIAN right-wing violent terrorist who travelled to NZ to murder men, women and children who were peacefully praying in their place of worship.

Fraser Anning should get the boot for that... what an idiot
also from the manifesto
the manifesto rants about killing prominent politicians: “KILL ANGELA MERKEL, KILL ERDOGAN, KILL SADIQ KHAN.” He urges people to kill “high profile enemies,” saying that German Chancellor Angela Merkel, “the mother of all things anti-white and anti-germanic, is top of the list.”

I agree, Kay. Now is not the time.
There is a rally being held in Melbourne, today, [probably in other states, too] as a show of solidarity for New Zealand.
