we have such a good Govt in Vic
Dan Andrews Verified account @danielandrewsmp 1h1 hour ago More Every family should have the chance to try for kids – not just those who can afford it. That's why we're doing this:
Public IVF services – bulk billed and subsidised for Victorians where the cost is out of reach.

That's great Deb. It costs thousands for IVF. My old hairdresser and her husband spent a fortune before finally having a successful pregnancy.

you know AC.. I wasn't too sure about him at first, probably due to the way he looks. He reminded me of Lurch fom the Adams Family , and I didn't know anything about him but ultimately you vote on policies, not the man, and the Libs did absolutely nothing when they were in power in Vic, so we needed a change of Govt here. but he's turned out to be great

at last, a royal commission into aged care, am hearing awful details, eg, doc might prescribe a sedative, but there might be no trained staff to administer it correctly, so they just give it when they choose
heard that one of the commissioners is richard tracy, now that is unkind...to give that name to a boy

LOL at the names
it should've been looked into years ago Maggie... there are so many complaints about the way the elderly are being treated in nursing homes

How did a toad like Barnaby manage to produce such pretty daughters. I hope his sons don't take after him either.
To look at that family photo makes me realise what a selfish prick he is.

I think that’s my point deb. It doesn’t need to “celebrate” some historical marker. Why not just a celebration of Australia, whatever that may mean?

Given that that photo was taken in 1915 I’m guessing it had some WW1 significance for that town and community. Or maybe the powers that be just decided they needed some cheering up in war time

i heard a discussion that (in the past) only NSW had 26 jan as the date, and that other states had different dates, i was only half listening....will try to find the comment
found it........not until 1940s was jan 26 celebrated all over, before that it was different for each state
workers did not get the day off until mid 1990s

Why does any country need a 'National Day" anyway? We Poms have never needed one to convince ourselves we are superior to every other nation on Earth.

just found this While thousands of people celebrated Australia Day over the long weekend, many had no idea of the terrible Waterloo Massacre that happened on the exact same date. In fact, the mass killing was so terrible it has also become known as the Australia Day massacre. A group of mounted police set upon a camp of Indigenous people at Waterloo Creek in northern New South Wales on January 26, 1838. The mass killing was part of a wider campaign from Lieutenant Governor of New South Wales colonel Kenneth Snodgrass to wipe out Indigenous people in the state. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6638835/The-Australia-Day-massacre-talks-known-Waterloo-Massacre.htmli loaned a book to someone who lost it, called Blood on the Wattle, it was a horrific detailing of all the slaughters of the past
