Prof Kerryn Phelps AM @drkerrynphelps 2h2 hours ago More I have discussed the email with @davesharma and @timpmurray today and we have all unanimously condemned it for its intent and content. I have briefed a lawyer who has lodged a complaint with the AEC and who is also intending to report it to appropriate authorities
I'm glad she's reported that to the AEC.. what I've heard is that it came from a Sydney IP.. so they should be able to trace it
will they tell the public,,, I'm not so sure

I'm hoping Phelps isn't just another independent liberal like the others (but I'm not counting on it ) .. they have the knack if finding outspoken but compliant people who vote with the libs anyway . You'd almost think they saw this coming and ensured the protest vote had a safe option already available .. but that's just me being paranoid i guess .

my opinion is that she will vote with the govt, medicos are by nature conservative, and she hasn't displayed she is other than that over the years.....she is giving her preferences to the libs

so much for conscience votes......punishment
Queensland’s Liberal National Party president Gary Spence has slammed three of his state MPs who voted in support of Labor legislation to decriminalise abortion and issued a veiled threat they may be disendorsed.
“I am bitterly disappointed that three of our MPs have voted in a way that is so contrary to well established party policy.’’
Mr Spence last month reportedly told MPs they could be putting themselves at risk of having their preselection to run again at the October 2020 State Election overturned by the LNP’s State Council.

Very strange system. They are officialy apologising for institutional child abuse and at the same time are abusing children and families in Nauru and Manus. A paradoxical system whitout morality principles.

Hardly sneaking. The majority, if not all, have been Court ordered with our government opposing. These children are in dire need of proper medical care.
The Greens and ALP have amended their stance on the lifetime ban so with any luck the NZ offer of accepting 150 [from Manus and Nauru] refugees per year.

she uses a few of the old Abbott lines about labor drowning people and some other doubtful remarks but the outcome is starting to look pretty clear .

Trump said that the outcome would have been better if the synagogue had been better armed. He is a dangerous fool.
Due to ill health, I was unable to attend the rally in Melbourne, yesterday, to stop offshore detention. There was also one in Sydney which Jimmy Barnes attended and Fr Rod Bower announced that he would run for the Senate. After years of advocacy and activism, there is a collective sense of the end growing closer and closer. The aim is to have all children and their families removed from Nauru by World Children's Day on November 20th. The men on Manus continue to suffer and my heart breaks for them. So many lives have been damaged by our Government [past and present] and this will be our shame.
I read that Morriscum has made a generous financial gesture to the farmers by taking funds allocated for the NDIS and not making it available until 2020

Tony Abbott describes conditions on Nauru as 'very, very pleasant' By political reporter Nick Dole Posted yesterday at 6:11pm
Tony Abbott grins as reporters try to interview him outside Parliament PHOTO: Tony Abbott said bringing children to Australia would encourage people smugglers. (ABC News: Matt Roberts) RELATED STORY: Eleven children taken off Nauru for medical attentionRELATED STORY: Mental health survey found 37 children on Nauru posed 'substantial clinical risk' years agoRELATED STORY: 'Labor thinks this is something to trade over': PM plays down deal on NZ resettlement on refugees Former prime minister Tony Abbott says Nauru is being unfairly portrayed as a "hell-hole" when it is in fact a "very pleasant" place.
Key points: Tony Abbott said medical facilities on Nauru were better than in some Australian towns Medical groups have called for the immediate removal of children from Nauru Labor said it shouldn't be taking the Government so long to resettle the refugees Mr Abbott was responding to growing calls to remove asylum seeker children from the Pacific island.
"Nauru is no hell-hole by any means. I've been there," Mr Abbott told radio station 2GB.
"If you like living in the tropics, it's a very, very pleasant island."
I wish someone would send Tony Abbott to that holiday island for a very long holiday

Our government had Nauru government reject Nick McKim's visa application. It is such a pleasant island that the LNP don't want to share it with anyone other than refugees and asylum seekers.

Apparently, our government has been flying children from Nauru to Adelaide over the past couple weeks but has been keeping it quiet [sorry, Maggie, you were right about them sneaking them in]. I believe that there are now 40 kids left on Nauru. I read that our government has said that none of the kids will be sent back to Nauru but, instead, will be detained in Australia until they are accepted by the US for resettlement. Many of them are on Trump's hit list of nationalities and won't be resettled in the US so I suppose that means indefinite onshore detention.
