this is the party that's supposed to represent the farming community
A group of about 15 Nationals members have resigned amid an investigation into their alleged ties to neo-Nazi and fascist groups.
The party is investigating up to 35 NSW members for links to alt-right, white supremacist and other radical groups, in what federal leader Michael McCormack described as an intolerable situation.

I doubt very much that Abbott ever went to Nauru. He should spend a week there every year the way he promised to in aboriginal communities.

have a listen to the end of the alan Jones interview in this article and here's Turnbulls response Malcolm Turnbull Verified account @turnbullmalcolm 20h20 hours ago More So my previous tweet - a simple statement of fact has been described in the media as “lashing out” (the Oz) or as a “public rebuke” (SMH). Neither characterisation is reasonable, but is objective reporting unadorned by sensationalism a thing of the past? 737 replies 510 retweets 3,088 likes Reply 737 Retweet 510 Like 3.1K Direct message Malcolm Turnbull Verified account @turnbullmalcolm 21h21 hours ago More A few facts. @scottmorrisonmp asked me to discuss trade and the embassy issue in Bali and we had a call before I left to confirm his messages which I duly relayed to @jokowi There was a detailed paper on the issue in my official brief as well. 441 replies 635 retweets 2,182 likes Reply 441 Retweet 635 Like 2.2K

According to Brandis, all kids will be removed from Nauru by the end of the year "“There are hardly any children on Nauru and in New Guinea and we expect that by the end of this year there will be none,” Brandis told LBC radio." It has been many years since women and children were detained on Manus so I don't know what he is on about in regards to New Guinea. Unless, he means that the fathers and husbands of those sent to Nauru will be reunited with them in Australia - but that would be highly unlikely. There are only 38 kids left on Nauru.
Yesterday, there were two more suicide attempts on Manus and I believe there was another this morning.
Oh, and there is a Court hearing scheduled for today inwhich the government is seeking to prevent the removal of a sick child from Nauru.

despite them saying they want to get the children out of there... they've fought every case of removing sick children in the courts. I hate to think what that is costing
don't forget we have an election coming up next year... that is why they're saying they want to remove them by Christmas

The government is in Court today in an attempt to stop the Federal Court being able to veto Government to challenge federal court's ability to order sick refugees/asylum seekers to be brought to Australia for treatment. The Department of Home Affairs will put forth the argument that the Federal Court does not have the jurisdiction.
I can't remember the figures off the top of my head, Deb, but I would say the amount runs into the millions.
You can tell that a state election is not far away. My federal MP [Lib] responded, yesterday, to an email that I sent him in April. Of course it was a mass-generated reply that did not address the issues that I had brought up. The state MP [Lib} has been busy spreading misleading information about local crime statistics etc. I live in a low crime area and it would only take one burglary to increase the crime rate by 80% lol. Not to mention the numerous automated phone polls.

The men who have been sent to Port Moresby for medical treatment are detained in a nearby hotel. Due to APEC about to begin, they are being forced back to Manus and have been told that there will be no medical care for at least a month. These men have been waiting days, weeks, months and some even for years for medical treatment [ such as it is]. They have been dragged out in the early hours of the morning. There have been reports of men not even being given the dignity to dress. One man tried to self-immolate but was stopped by his friends.
The two other suicide attempts have been an attempted hanging and the other slashed wrists.
The men are struggling to keep each other and themselves alive. It is also one year since the Lombrum blockade which stirs up a lot trauma. There is so much that never makes it to our mainstream media but it is all documented and is being spread via social media.I am so worried.

6 attempted suicide over the past 3 days.
The forced removal from Granville hotel has escalated with one refugee beaten so badly that he needed to be hospitalised. The men are terrified and have asked for urgent help. 100 police as well as navy and immigration were sent to remove 30 sick men at 4am this morning. 2 navy, 2 police and 1 immigration per man They men did not resist but were forcibly dragged out, resulting in injuries. Belongings were stolen or left behind. This is reminiscent of Lombrum which is probably deliberate because it is the anniversary of the Lombrum blockade and the men are struggling.
Shame on our government. Shame on us.

I saw a parody of a 2068 prime ministerial apology to Nauru survivors on fb this morning. Google Sammy J Nauru apology to find it (I couldn’t work out how to link it here)

mr average, nice guy is not actually travelling in the bus but flying VIP instead
However, Fairfax Media has confirmed Mr Morrison and his staff will travel for most of the 1500 kilometre journey aboard a Royal Australian Air Force VIP jet.
The ghost bus will be left with only its driver on board for several key legs, including the 400 kilometre-plus stretch from the Sunshine Coast to Gladstone.
While Mr Morrison's office stressed the cost of the ScoMo Express was paid out of Liberal Party coffers, taxpayers will foot the bill for the VIP plane and hotel costs.
All MPs are entitled to travel for legitimate work purposes on the public purse, though the PM's Queensland visit has been criticised by some observers for resembling an election campaign.
this is an election campaign... not legitimate "work" and taxpayers should not be paying for it
at the bottom of the article they try to justify it by saying how much money Labor has spent on travel
