Peter Dutton has rejected Roman Quaedvlieg’s intervention in the au pair saga, saying that claims his office sought help for a “mate” are false and fabricated while questioning the former Border Force commissioner’s mental health.

Sources have told the ABC that during the "horrible, bruising week", Mr Dutton's backers would enter colleagues' offices uninvited, and sometimes first thing in the morning, and refuse to leave unless they signed the petition to bring on a spill.

One MP said it was only after a "terse exchange" that their colleague agreed to leave.

But that pressure continued on the floor of Parliament where Mr Dutton's supporters would target MPs during divisions and try and force them to add their name to the petition.

Obviously in his time as being in charge of the whole Immigration/Border force Dept he wasn't that popular (due to his choices) with other staff there.

He lied.

There is no suggestion Mr Dutton stepped beyond his powers as a minister, given he has the discretion to seek advice and intervene in visa decisions, and there is no suggestion of any adverse impact on Australia from allowing the woman to enter the country.



But Mr Dutton told Parliament on March 27 there was no connection with the people who sought help for the au pairs.



Greens MP Adam Bandt asked the minister: "Can you categorically rule out any personal connection or any other relationship between you and the intended employer of either of the au pairs?"



Mr Dutton replied: "The answer is yes. I haven’t received any personal benefit. I don’t know these people. They haven’t worked for me. They haven’t worked for my wife."

Dutton character assasinating Quaedvliegs in the media isn't a good look either. If he believes he's done nothing wrong he should just shut up.

While that guy has been sacked from the Dept.. doesn't mean what he's claiming now isn't true.
