Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton pressed then Customs chief Roman Quaedvlieg to help two Queensland policemen get jobs in the new Border Force agency Mr Dutton was setting up – a revelation set to escalate the political furore surrounding Mr Dutton's decisions as immigration minister.
One of the two policemen, Matt Stock, is a good friend of Mr Dutton's, according to sources with knowledge of the events. The second man, John Lewis, is the son of corrupt former police commissioner Terry Lewis.

Jones and 2GB will be required to pay the Wagner family more than $3.3 million. In addition, Brisbane station 4BC and Jones were also ordered to pay the family more than $440,000.
Of that total amount, Jones and 2GB were ordered to pay $828,103 to each brother, including interest. Jones and 4BC were also ordered to pay $110,643.84 to each.
An appeal against a record $3.75 million defamation payout is being considered by Alan Jones and his radio station, after they were found to have defamed Toowoomba’s Wagner brothers.

Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has been texting and calling Liberal MPs to urge them to refer Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton to the High Court. Mr Turnbull, who resigned from the Parliament after losing the prime ministership two weeks ago and is now sojourning in New York, has been agitating as recently as this week to have Mr Dutton referred to the court over his eligibility to sit in Parliament.  |
