It seems you have a really big worker shortage just like we do in Blighty - same as many other 1st and 2nd world countries. Why are so many countries in the 1st & 2nd world experiencing such worker shortages..? Anyone know?

I was hoping it was an elaborate conspiracy theory *sigh*

You can throw a bit of that in, if you want I thought this bit was very harsh, manipulative. They're not criminals. The Risks & Consequences of Absconding . You may bring shame to your family's reputation.

The things going on here are hard to imagine really. You don't want to know (no, you really don't want to know - no one does - they tell me to stop talking about it)
But seriously, the government is saying the train strikes (there are nationwide train strikes on Thurs and there was today on Tues) are what you'll get regularly under Labour, even though Labour don't support the strikes and urged Labour MPs not to go anywhere near picket lines. Even though the [Tory] govt instigated these strikes with their actions. I mean the fault lies with the Union ultimately, but it was job cuts that instigated this.
It's gaslighting par perfection. They're breaking 'uman rights laws left, right and centre - the cost of living crisis is biting deep and they're blaming the poorest for destroying society etc, while talking of uncapping bankers' bonuses...
IN other words, we are in deep shite.

Moment of nostalgia there. I was one of 'em way back in 1962.

There are 2 by-elections tomorrow that I think the Tories are expected to lose... How long before they stab Johnson in the back a la Thatcher in 1990? Major in 1996? Cammers in 2015/16? May all the way from 2017-2019 and ....
They've already tried several times to stab him in the back, unsuccessfully.

Have you ever tried to argue with a Boris Johnson supporter? I mean a fully signed up Brexit nut? They are probably as equally as abusive and small-minded as your worst Trump supporters. This is the sort of brainwashed stuff you're dealing with here. It's like cult worship or something. To give you an idea of the way they act, just read this -
They're actually pretending to be bots to run interference for them - preventing detection of real bots. Bloody loopers.

Ugh yea, one of those 'movements'. The Tories just lost both seats in the by-elections to Labour. And they were so sure.

From what I can tell, it seems to be anti-vaxers anti lockdown and anti mandates.
I just googled and it means also freedom from authoritarianism. Cookers, in other words.

Lots of Senior Tories are insisting he quit; Prince Charles held a 'private meeting' with him and Boris is upset with him. He also weighed in about Roe V Wade (lol, really?). Our Home Secretary (her family are Indian refugees from Uganda) is still pressing ahead with deporting those awful migrants to Rwanda with Kagame in power who was part of teh genocide and won with 99% of the vote (lol). You know, sometimes the news is stranger than fiction.
In other news, my Pom{s} really hurt as I accidentally sat on them - I now have a really high pitched voice
(This has been your news from Pom)

This is how delusional this country has become.
We are gaslit so badly that we are told Rachel Johnson is a "lefty" who doesn't like Boris's leadership, or the Tories. But she's loyal to them through and through despite the occasional criticism.
They really are living in a world of delusional fantasy and they want to take us along with it and expect us to believe this utter nonsense they throw out to us.
It's hard to believe sometimes when I read stuff like this, that the country is actually like this. It must have been a similar feeling over there when Scotty from Marketing was in power and in America too.

It was like the perfect storm to have the three of them, Trump, Johnson and Morrison, in power at the same time. And again, the common denominator if Murdoch.
Oh well, 2 down 1 to go

It is partly Murdoch, but it's also a lot of powerful special interest groups these guys have in common Sean Topham and Ben Guerin, Lynton Crosby - working at Topham Guerin won both Boris Johnson and Scotty from Marketing's campaigns in 2019. They lost this time round, but they're good at the 'dead cat' strategy - Then there's Steve Bannon, Arron Banks, Peter Thiel, all the guys behind Boris - many other billionaires of course who are involved in stuff over there too. I read that in Australia you had the United Australia Party billionaire Clive Palmer directing folks to vote for 'Scomo' in 2022 tactically to unseat Labor Party folks. That's like the Brexit Party - Conservative Party election pact in the 2019 electoin - totally corrupt.

It seems Murdoch has a lot more power in Australia than in most other countries though according to this. In the UK, News UK (part of NewsCorp who also own FOX News in the USA and the Wall Street Journal, and I think the New York Post) own: The Daily Mail is one of the largest and is not owned by Murdoch, same for the Mirror who are 'left leaning' and pro-Labour ( they are owned by Reach plc who also owns the Daily Express - Express is the most right-wing Pro-Brexit paper going - they also snapped up most of the local newspapers over here too). Boris has come in for sustained criticism from the Sunday Times and they've ran loads of exposes on him, but also attempted to cover-up things for him too - a story came out about that recently. IMHO, Murdoch is not a fan of Boris currently and is trying to plunge the knife into him and get him out as leader. They did a similar thing and backed Labour in the past when Blair was on the ascendancy, plunging the knife into John Major. They don't like Starmer or Labour but they also seem to have the knives out for Boris this time round. They own TalkTV and Talk Radio over here too (which is fairly big). Their biggest asset on the telly was Sky News (which is centrist over here, sorta) but Comcast acquired the entirety of Sky News a few years back I'm just reading - so he doesn't have the telly dominance he once did over here. He appears to own bucketloads of local newspapers in Aus too according to wiki.
