My son is free next Sunday. It makes no sense to me that I am free to carry on as normal. We are doing our best but it's not easy and I'm sure if he had Delta then I would get it too.
He had a test before and a test at the airport, negative. He's had no symptoms whatsoever so not worried about it.

Should add that they do check on him everyday. I think it's via an app and when they contact him he has to send a photo, which is of course him sitting at his desk They must be bored with the lack of scenery.

Not good at all. It was the delivery company that quickly let my family member know that they'd been in close contact with a covid case. NSW Health let them know 2 days later than that.

He is isn’t he deb. I’ve thought that for quite a while but he has really come into his own during this crisis and during the fires as well.

I don't watch a lot of their live updates, I just read the printed version but I watched live today. The ACT Chief Health Officer speaks very well also.. no umming and arring, concise and to the point.

I knew Chris Uhlmann’s parents. I can’t work out what happened to him. They were lovely

The virus is getting pretty close now. Four new cases in our LGA today (10 total) and there have been fragments found a few times in the sewage in my little town. We are both double vaxxed and don’t really go anywhere except to golf and IGA for milk etc, so we will hopefully be ok but it’s getting a bit scary. Between the bushfires and covid I feel like I’ve been in varying levels of anxiety since December 2019 and I’m exhausted

May I suggest a trip to Dan Murphy's too Kay?
I don't blame you for being worried. I would be very unhappy if there were cases in my area.

Well it’s here. The first case in our town yesterday. If the stories I’m hearing about how it got into this LGA are true there is going to be one hell of a shit storm!

People just won’t do the right thing. We have one, but he’s been isolating as a contact from the Narrabri case, so hopefully it doesn’t spread any further. Cases in Walgett are still increasing but I believe a lot of those are kids now. Hope it settles down before we go out there working. It’s a real shit in these smaller towns when you only have a handful of shops. The IGA was in danger of shutting down while all staff isolated, next town is 70 odd km away.

People still doing the wrong thing... crossing borders without exemptions.. We have ADF personnel manning borders/doing checks on vehicles entering, they're still turning away people trying to get into ACT from NSW. Same would be happening elsewhere.

Figlet, have there been any covid deaths there this time? and were there any last year, i can't remember
we are so lucky here, we have nothing, but we do accept that one day it is going to go very wrong
our premier jumps on it very quickly, and of course is criticised for that

And of course some people do the wrong thing perfectly innocently. I had to ring one of our woman golfers this morning. She is a member at our club but lives in the next LGA over, which is not in lockdown. She had booked herself in to play in the competition tomorrow. I had to tell her that, because our LGA is still under stay-at-home restrictions, if she came over she would have to isolate for 14 days when she went back home. She had not the slightest idea. I mean, she’s lovely but not the sharpest ……

Still only one case in our town but they still haven’t released any exposure sites. Local conjecture is that the person is not cooperating 🙄

😡 That was the same as happened in Batemans Bay recently? Two wouldn't cooperate with details of where they'd been.
maggie..We had 3 deaths last year and fortunately none so far this time. Quite a few hospitalised (all ages from young to old) and have had some on ventilators. I remember when your Premier (and WA's) got flack for not letting people from other States/Territories in. Best thing to do.
Our Chief Health Officers currently doesn't think we'll get back to zero cases.

Hope everyone is going OK..we're still in lockdown here with case numbers rising, though not as high as NSW and our death toll has been way lower.
I expect cases will just get higher after the #MurdochRiots..I noticed one protestor is already hospitalized.
The idiots took over the Shrine of Rememberance only because it was the most unlikely place that police would make a move on them

Hi Deb. We will be in lockdown to middle of October at least. Time is going by quite quickly really. Daughter in Cbr is getting her 2nd Pfizer vaccine today.
Edit to add: It doesn't sound much - 32 cases today.. the highest we have had so far (usually around 16-17.

Is there any talk about when ACT will let our kids come down here or we can go up there?
I told my hairdresser I’m ok with the people wanting/needing colour treatments to go first, but I want to be next in line 😇

Which doesn't give any exact timeframes. Barr "By 29 October our surrounding region will likely have achieved the 80 per cent vaccination threshold and the nation will likely reach 80 per cent soon after. This may enable further easing, if the public health situation allows. • Before we take any further steps beyond 29 October we will need to closely consider the epidemiological situation, cases in our surrounding region and our public health and hospital system capacity." End of Nov to Early December 2021 "Further easing of travel restrictions – any interstate or overseas travel will be subject to the decisions of the Commonwealth and other State and Territory Governments"
