just watched 4 corners, it was interesting.....the jail sentences in the US are horrible, ours can seem to be too light, but we don't want anything like theirs.....inhumane

most of that is different from state to state, and WAY different at the federal level. it's very confusing, and imho, something that should be uniform and humane. but..this IS america...

Barri the programme was about children who were given life without the possibly of parole, and now that the there has been a change of law, those sentences are being reviewed, and they are being released after pleading their cases.....i am always heartened when i see a bit of humanity and justice being doled out
here a person can get only 6 or 12 or a bit more years for killing someone, sometimes it is called a life sentence, and it is not |

and yes, that IS heartening news! especially considering more and more people are getting retrials, and evidence retested, so many are being found completely innocent.
people CAN be rehabilitated too, especially kids in prison. more needs to be done to find out WHY the crime was committed, like in a situation of abuse, you know?

I stayed up and watched the Trump/Putin 'summit" last night and then I couldn't sleep after it
Putin owned him
I learned that Boston bought gas from Russia. then I wondered why Trump had blasted Germany for doing similar
I heard Putin say that he and Trump didn't want oil prices to "plummet""
I heard that the 12 indicted Russians would be questioned by Russian intelligence on Russsian soil and that the Mueller team could sit in on it.. but in return Russian should be able interrogate US intelligence
I heard Putin say that he wanted Trump to win the election for a chance of a better US/Russian relationship
I heard Trump say that Russia was better than the US and the FBI
I'm still shaking my head over that meeting
