In his first media conference as Prime Minister-designate, Scott Morrison said "drought is the most urgent and pressing need right now, and I will be meeting with Major-General Day as soon as possible to review our drought response plans, and working with him and the Nationals and our regional and rural Liberal members to ensure that we do what is necessary to help our regional communities, our farmers, and all those affected."
"We will do what is necessary and coordinate with the states and territories. That will be my first focus."

i'm calling bullshit on that.
they've done squat to help the farmers so far. i can't see this happening.
it is just a ploy to try and win votes they know they're done for. Australia has had enough of their BS.

I donโt know why the hard right libs donโt just go off and join PHON. Thatโs what they seem to want to turn their party into.

I donโt know why the hard right libs donโt just go off and join PHON. Thatโs what they seem to want to turn their party into. you know that Morrison didn't really want to run for leadership.. he did it because Turnbull wanted him to.. so what Turnbull has done is stave off the hard right faction for now. I can't see the abbott lot giving up though Morrisons new ministry should be interesting... who gets promoted and who gets demoted to the back bench I'm wondering if Cormann has destroyed his own career??

many in the press are applauding him for speaking out Kay.. but others query why no-one said anything when they did the same to Julia Gillard He was speaking specifically about the machinations of the Murdoch Press and Sky News. Was there the same degree of media interference in the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd debacle,or was it all just party infighting?

I think Annabelle Crabbe had it right when she pointed out that the innocent and overlooked victims in all this are those staffers who will now lose their jobs.

Murdoch waged war on Labor mainly through the press Penny.. Chris Uhlmann is right in saying the sky news commentaters are interfering in politics too much... they have become far worse over the past couple of years with their ""after dark" right wing programes.
Mudoch happens to be in the county too.. I wonder if that has any relevence to Turnbull's dumping

Not just them either penny. Every time there is a change in the machinery of government it causes enormous disruptions in all departments. They get sliced and diced, people get shunted around and itโs just generally messy.
