Emma husar is taking legal steps against Alice Workman, buzzfeed and newscorp and has given a detailed response to all the allegations. I have to admit , I'm a bit disappointed in buzzfeed Also Barnaby Joyce's book release. He details his chasing women and frequenting bars and depression. Sounds like a big sob story to me.. now there's a man who really feels hard done by and sorry for himself There was a women Doctor in Tamworth who tried for 4yrs to have Barnaby come on board with help for country folk and depression - he refused to acknowledge her numerous requests so now she has come out and pointed the bone at him for using depression to sell his book

There was a funny moment when Turnbull alluded to Abbott being an idiot That might make tonight's news Lyn, I read that lady reached out to Joyce to offer counselling numerous times but was ignored.. He's just a self centred so and so... not a person suffering from depression

A young man has given up. He has locked himself in his room and is no longer eating or drinking. The men are desperately trying to get help for him, even the security is writing a report. Today is his fourth day without water. Dehydration happens very quickly in the tropical heat of Manus and his skin has turned yellow. Dutton's office has said that they are aware of this.
I have no updates on the young man who has completely broken.

I have called pollies. Dutton's office said that they are aware. The receptionists of other pollies take a message and say they will pass it on. I've emailed and emailed. There is nothing else that I can do. Hopefully, the men or the guards will break the door down and get the young man some help. I'm not optimistic that the guards will do no more than put him in a jail cell.
The man has an adult form of Resignation Syndrome. He is not the only one.

The problem is that although the government would rather we in Australia didn't find out whats going on, they also the overseas family and friends of the sufferers to be in absolutely no doubt about the hell they are in - word spreads.

The men try to shield their families from the horror as much as they can. Australia has been widely condemned but Dutton etc is too arrogant and cruel to care.
The young man has been taken to hospital and is now conscious.

It's a terrible situation - I hope the young man gets the help he desperately needs.

I often wonder, what is it about Queenslanders that makes them so racist ( not all, but certainly the ones we get in politics)\ they don't even have a large immigrant population like we have in Melb and Sydney do they?? Bob Katters grandfather was a Lebanese immigrant and yet he's anti immigration?? this Fraser Anning... who was a nobody, has now made himself known with his "final solution" speech I had to laugh at Turnbull and Dutton who've both been trying to stir up racial hatred in Melbourne denouncing his speech...... appararently Turnbull has a large Jewish constituency in Wentworth

something to think about
Craig Emerson @drcraigemerson 42m42 minutes ago
The bipartisan support for the @billshortenmp motion in the House against racism was uplifting. But I was shocked to learn that 22 mainly Coalition Senators shook Anning’s hand after his disgraceful speech.

They were following senate protocol by shaking his hand. There have been calls for that to be changed.
Katter became very pissed off when a reporter mentioned his grandfather was Lebanese. He fired up saying that his father was Australian and that he was offended and that the reporter was being racist. ABC's "Tonightly" was funny last night. They replayed some of Katter's interview including the part when he was asked if his party was racist and he replied that, yes, they were Australian. He was asked again and gave the same response.
Repro used to call Queensland, "The Deep North".

I couldn't agree more about Bob Katter. Charlie Pickering replayed his response on The Weekly last night. It was beyond bizarre and a lot of it was simply unintelligible .

CONSERVATIVE MPs are urging Peter Dutton to seize the leadership from Malcolm Turnbull within weeks on a policy platform of lower immigration and cheaper energy bills. The move comes as momentum is growing among MPs angry at the Prime Minister’s signature energy policy, with 10 threatening to cross the floor and several ministers considering resigning over the issue which has divided the Liberal Party for the past decade. Mr Turnbull is promising to take a “big stick” to power companies in a bid to stem growing dissent on the backbench for his signature energy policy.

They've got their new Dept of Home Affairs (previously Dept of Immi) but there are caps on hiring new staff ( Public Service wide) so now they're saying they don't have enough staff to meet their operational needs.

I found the following extracts from a speech that has an eerie echo of Fraser Anning's. (the italics are my substitutions for the actual words used.) 3 guesses who said it, when it was said and which particular group of immigrants it referred to.
"I protest against “them” coming here and bringing their national grievances to disturb this land of ours ... to distract the workings of our political institutions, by acting together in separate organised masses, not entering into the reason of our politics ... but blindly obeying the dictation of others as ignorant as themselves".
"I object to seven “of them” coming here to every three “European immigrants”, to set themselves in motion to extinguish freedom of speech and to impede the work of our free institutions".

I suspect you are right Maggie. My ex said to me that he has a lot of time for Dutton. I looked at him expecting to see that he was being sarcastic, but no, he meant it.

Sadly, Madara, it was indeed an Australian - Sir Henry Parkes in 1872, and he was talking about the Irish.
