Poor management. I am hoping that Turnbull does call an early election so these idiots can be kicked out of power.

They’ve come up with a brilliant plan on how to balance the books. It might take a while though. Apparently in the lockup today, journos are going to be charged $4 for a coffee and $3.80 for a muffin. Previously the tea and coffee urn was provided. Good idea to piss off the journos you want to write favourably about your budget.

Poor management. I am hoping that Turnbull does call an early election so these idiots can be kicked out of power. It certainly looks like they're going to an early election with all the pork barrelling going on atm poor management is right they are paid by taxpayers to do jobs that they're not doing

It's what I call 'the lifeboat syndrome'. Imagine you are in a lifeboat bobbing around on a turbulent sea. Behind you is a sinking ship and the sea is full of desperate survivors all struggling to get into your boat. You can't rescue everyone because if you did the lifeboat might sink, but watching them drown really upsets you; so you salve your conscience by pretending to yourself that it's somehow their own fault that they are in this predicament, they are 'bad' people and they don't really deserve to be saved.

An Iranian woman on Nauru had to be saved from drowning, today, after her application for resettlement in the US was declined. As expected, it looks as though Iranian and Somali refugees will not be included in the US resettlement deal. The US was the last bit of hope left for the men, women and children. Dutton won't allow them here, won't accept NZ's offer of 150 per year, and, there are no safe alternatives. They have nothing to look forward to except for death. There are no words for the sadness and anger that I, and others, feel. The other day, we had to raise money for a young man to receive medical treatment for a broken leg after he was attacked by locals in PNG. He spent the night in agony after being refused something as basic as pain relief.

A crowd fund is in the process of being set up. The contract with the company that was providing medical care ended last week and another took over. The Australian government has withdrawn all but minimal funding so the men will need to pay for the majority of their own care. We've raised enough for consultation, xrays and painkillers but now need to raise enough to cover the cost of the operation to set his broken leg and for any further care. This should not be happening.

the previous HC ruling was that these politicians had to have taken "reasonable steps" on their citizenships... which sounded as if they had started the process of denouncing their foreign citizenships prior to being elected it was OK... the current ruling shows this not to be the case, if the paperwork had not been completed by other countries in time for nomination. so I understand why Shorten thought they were in the clear (due to the previous ruling)
there are also a number of LNP members under a cloud... who have NOT shown their paperwork
. Ann Sudmalis . Julia Banks . Josh Frydenberg . Michael Sukkar . Jason Falinski
I'm hearing that each by-election will cost each party $1million.... so they might as well call an early election

I'm hoping for an early election. I don't think the pollies care about how much money that they waste. When it comes to themselves, there is no shortage of funds.

Millions and millions of dollars per annum have been allocated to the running of the detention centres on Manus and Nauru with very little to show for it. It certainly isn't being spent on proper accommodation, medical, food, or security so somebody's pockets are being lined. It would cost a fraction of that amount to settle the refugees here.

Just a quick update. The target amount has been reached and surpassed with 13 hours remaining. He has a booking with the hospital on Monday and will probably be operated on Tuesday - 9 days after his leg/ankle was broken.
[This is a part of an email recently received from the office of home affairs] "The contracted health service provider in PNG delivers appropriate health care to refugees and non-refugees."

Yes, in Port Moresby. He was already in PM for medical treatment and the new rules [courtesy of Dutton] is that only the treatment of existing conditions will be covered. The men receive an allowance of 100k [around $40 au] pw. The total cost of the consultation, xray, pain relief and quote came to around 4,350k. The operation plus aftercare came to a further 9.200k.
He has a nasty break just above the ankle. There is so much bruising and swelling which is causing an awful lot of pain, as you can imagine. He was attacked and robbed by locals. This is not an isolated incident and these attacks will continue to happen until the refugees are given safety in a safe country.

The Abbott-Turnbull government was warned about the potential of consumers being gouged by electricity networks for more than three years but failed to act until now, letters obtained from two state governments show.
this Gov wasn't voted in to sit on their hands...we all know prices are too high.. still wating for Abbott's $550 savings per year

Australia's airports are set for a major security shake-up after the Federal Government announced a plan to increase police powers and rollout full body scanners around the country.
The proposal would allow police to demand identification from anybody at an airport, even if they're not suspecting of doing anything criminal.Yesterday, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said the measures will help Australia navigate "dangerous times"www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/breakfast/will-airport-laws-cause-racial-profiling/9765936 gee, wonder why?
