The last time we went to the vet they established that the reason he is fat is because he has too many calories in and doesn't burn off enough calories each day.
They looked at me. They looked at him. They looked at me and the expression on their faces (the doc and the tech) was , "do the math".
(I'm not 400 lbs !)

He can be serious.
If he's at the window and the mailman pulls up, he will jump out the window (don't worry it's a safe and small jump onto the deck) and race to go get him. He's athletic in spite of his weight problem.
I wonder if the mailman throws him food?
A few years ago we tried a diet and I caught him trying to eat rocks. He swallowed one. Not good. I stopped the diet.
Maybe some people (dogs) are destined to be overweight and that's just how it is.

Of course. Labs are like that and you have to be pretty strict. If you left an open big bag of dried dog food out they would literally eat themselves to death.

My Lilydog was a lab x and she adored food. It was difficult keeping her weight down but it was necessary because of her arthritic joints. Dawn, you could try slowly decreasing the amount of food that Timber eats so that he gradually gets used to it.

A photo my son took last night with his phone. He has the new Galaxy one and the camera is just brilliant. Baloo, looking rather sheepish. Attachment Deleted

Abby the Labby I think Baloo is 8 this year Penny. He's had his white chin though since he was maybe two years old. Duffy, I remember the sock poos very well. Baloo was a shocker but thank goodness he doesn't eat socks anymore. I was scared one of them would cause a trip to the vet.

Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedOur eldest daughter took Sugar to the vet this week............and Sugar is now on a diet. She needs to shed 5 kilo. Good luck with that. She lives in a house of 4 children who are always eating. She is a bit chunky.............but a perfect family dog.............she is so placid. They can do anything with her.......and she just doesn't care.

Joono, that's funny, I never saw another dog eat socks. We had to be careful not to leave socks lying around.

we had a jack russell that ate the rubber bits off 2 dummies - he had to go to the vets to be made to puke. you would think he would learn after the 1st one but no... after the second one we had to hide the dummy when not in use - my boy kept it under his pillow and would run in and have a suck o it then put it back and come out to play again. i decided if he was old enough to do that then he didn't need it so i threw it away and told him the dog ate it again

I had a dog that was a panties chewer, but not swallower. 😩
The only way to stop her was to put them in a covered hamper.
Swallowing clothing even in small pieces is as dangerous as rocks and glass. I've heard of glass swallowers.
I freak out when I see any of them with a paper towel.
Once, Dixie (rip) killed a small rabbit. Crockett took it from her and when I tried to take it from him, he swallowed it whole. He was sick for days.
Dogs. 😡
I couldn't live without one.

I thought I was the only one that did that. I have their school photos but I've put them in the zip part for receipts rather than there to be seen when I open my purse. Others would assume they were my grandkids now.
