My sister sent me this in an email yesterday and it took me ages before the penny dropped and I realised what the joke was . Let's see who's the first one here to get it.
Witnessed totally disgusting behaviour on beach at Rockingham yesterday. A man and woman arguing in front of a load of kids then she smacked him one on the head and it all kicked off between them. Police turned up and policeman ended up using his baton on the bloke but the man actually managed to get the baton off the copper and started hitting the copper and the woman with it. Then a crocodile turned up and stole the sausages.

I was just about to say I didn't get it but then the penny dropped. Par for the course at an English seaside.

Spot on, Dawn I didn't realise that scenario was well known in America. Jay, dumb question, how do I 'highlight?
Edit: As you were - I found it, and Yes you are right.

I must say, you are all a lot quicker off the mark than me. It was the following morning before I finally saw the light.

Sin is the Other Dawn lol...
While I'm familiar with Punch & Judy, I didn't get the inference.
But I watched jeopardy earlier today and I got so many questions right I was amazed. I was doing something else and not focused on the show. I did not get final jeopardy right, though.

I have a feeling the crocodile supplanted the hangman, who was considered too politically incorrect. In the original show the hangman arrive to execute Mr Punch but gets tricked into putting his head in his own noose (to show the acting dumb Punch what is required of him) with the obvious result..

Sometimes I talk about how awful the video games are that kids are playing...
But if you put it into perspective Punch and Judy have been around for a few hundred years.
The cartoons I watched (1950s- 1970s) were mostly based on violence- especially towards animals.
I never learned much from them besides an appreciation for classical music. And to never do business with the Acme company.
