I just found out something really helpful from some junk mail of all places. Little Aussie Directories.
If you accidentally close down a tab in your browser, rather than search again or go to history, you can press Ctrl + Shift + T and the window will open again.
How good is that? I love tips like that. We all know Ctrl + P to print a page but if you have any other tips you'd like to share, please do.

i think i mentioned i was having issues with getting my laptop to copy urls.. 4 year old liz looked at it and said" press this one and this one, then you can right click to paste it like regular". ctrl+c was what she pointed at. i felt like an idiot, since i never knew that before! she was very sympathetic and told me she has to help her abuela with computer stuff too so i shouldn't feel stupid, i'm just old like abuela. *abuela is 82, btw*

They are good Kay. I only knew the copy and paste ones.
There is also Ctrl+alt+delete to get to the task manager to shut down a programme or your computer if everything is jammed.

Another tip in the junk mail, not computer related. Rub a tennis ball over scuff marks on your hard wood floor. The marks will disappear like magic.
Actually, I doubt that. My wooden floor is scuffed to the max and the only tennis ball I have is covered in big black mutt drool. Not going to work.
I've seen this one on tv as well and it works. To quickly cool a drink bottle or can, wrap it in a wet paper towel and place in the freezer for 10 minutes.

thank you ladies, specially kay. nobody taught me that sort of thing! lol@ the ball of drool! if you need to quick cool a case of bottled or canned drinks, fill a cooler 1/2 full of water, add 2 cups of salt and stir, then add a couple of pounds of ice. immerse all of the beverages for 15 minutes , et voila! i once got a hundred dollar tip for knowing that.

ALT+F4. Will close a window. Handy when you get those annoying pop ups and can’t find the close button.

I'll have to remember that one. I hate the web pages where you get ads and videos popping up all over the place.

I just tried that one Clarabelle and it didn't work for me. The f4 key turns the microphone off and on even if you press Alt with it.
Interestingly I did find that if you press Alt + Esc it flips back and forward to my browser and my mail programme. It doesn't work if you just press Esc.

Found my one. Ctrl and W will close the current tab.
I think controls might be different between desk tops and laptops.

Maybe. I’m thinking back to desktop days. Or perhaps it’s an IE thing.

There was one that some people (😉) used to use at work to minimise the current screen, but I can’t remember what it was. Some people (😉) called it “the boss is coming” key.

Ctrl Shift T is handy.
I usually right click on the last tab (one that hasn't been used yet) and choose reopen closed tab from the drop down menu.

ALT+F4. Will close a window. Handy when you get those annoying pop ups and can’t find the close button. That still works for me (laptop, Chrome).. it closes all the tabs open in a window though (as I just found out!). Thought it might just close the tab I had opened.

I think you need to click somewhere in or on the frame you want to close, so it’s the active window.
