I was just wondering that since my brother-in-law still buys the Sunday times and Rupert Murdoch is on his last legs.
Have you bought a newspaper in the last five years or do you get all your news from the internet?

we buy the paper every day except for Sunday.
We need the paper for Indie's cage.
I don't get it delivered because I absolutely hate reading the paper unless it is flat.
Hubby gets the paper every morning when he drops our daughter to work

We get the local weekly paper each Wednesday, and he gets the Tele on Fridays so he knows what the RWNJs are talking about at golf on Saturday 😆 (actually it’s because he likes their cars section which is in the Friday edition) Both of them get delivered.
I read the Canberra Times online most days.

I love the feel of the paper. I read almost all of it, except the sports.
Sometimes they start to stack up. That week when some were boycotting the dhs I read 3 or 4 weeks worth that had stacked up.
I absolutely love dear Abby and the comics. I like it when the headlines read incorrectly.
For instance last week one read: Coach recovering after fatal accident
This week: Teen goes missing this weekend
(Like it was a prediction)
I love Sunday coupons! Two weeks ago I used coupons on items I would buy anyway. I knocked $10.50 off my bill.
Though sometimes I cut coupons and let them sit on the counter til they expire.

This is interesting. I didn't think newspapers would sell so well now. I was picking up the Sunday Times for my mother-in-law for a while but she is late 80s and doesn't do that internet thing. Haha, just kidding, she's not tech stupid but doesn't go online except for messages on her iphone.
Looks like Rupert still has a paper job.

I can't remember the last time I bought a newspaper. We had a 'student' deal last time we got one (which would be 10 years ago).. free on weekdays if you pick one up from the Uni store and Saturdays one delivered. That only cost $20 a semester. I did used to like reading Saturdays paper.
I do look at online news sites.. Canberra Times, SMH etc..not much 'real news' for a free look though. Newspapers do encourage you to pay for a subscription so you're able to read all their online news.
Subscriptions to paper newspapers have crashed really... since a few years ago.

I used to buy the Age on Thursdays [for the green guide] and on the weekends but haven't done so in years. The internet provides instant news so newspapers in this household are pretty much obsolete.

I have to admit I often don't do much more with the papers than read the letters and do the puzzles

The Canberra Times app has the entire paper figlet, except for the classifieds. You can even download it in tabloid format so it looks exactly like the printed version. Not sure about SMH.

I've noticed there aren't many classified ads. There was a time when there would be a couple of pages worth, now they fill up 1/4 of a page.
Most people around here use Craig's list or Facebook.
I enjoyed reading the errors in classified ads. I miss that. Sometimes I'd get my red pen out and circle the bad ads, them mail them to my friend in CA (she studied to be an editor).
I remember one funny ad ... for Angus stud service... They kept using the word balls instead of bulls. I wish I could remember the exact wording they used. It was a rather long ad and so funny.
