When is yours, and how many reminders can we have π
Ours go out on Sunday night. The hardest part is remembering which is green week (garden waste) and which is yellow (recycling). We rely on everyone else in the street getting it right so we can copy π Itβs going to be a sorry day when the first one out gets it wrong π

Ours is out on Wed night.. I usually remember.. and do the same as you Kay re Yellow lid bin.. look to see what others have out down the street.
No Green lid bin yet.. Govt rolling them out in my area this year.. optional and costs residents who want one, one off fee of $50.

We have a red bin, yellow bin and a green bin. Plus a.kitchen bin.
I often forget the bins entirely but have been good lately, lol.
I do what you do Kay, and rely on the neighbours to know what bin goes out :)

We work on the theory that people who are anal enough to organise and put out their bins 20 hours ahead of collection are probably all over which is the correct one π

Yep, ours is tonight and we're notorious for forgetting to put our bins out.. Tonight it's the ordinary (red) bin and the yellow recyclables bin.. Next week it's the ordinary red one and the green waste one
We rely a lot on the neighbours to see whether it's week one or week two
Oh and I sometimes rely on Pepe to remind me what day it is too

We work on the theory that people who are anal enough to organise and put out their bins 20 hours ahead of collection are probably all over which is the correct one π Sometimes we put them out 24 hours too early, but that's because we've got the wrong day have to bring them in and start all over again

Our neighbours are always getting it wrong and can't be relied on. They still have their bins out now when the rubbish was picked up three days ago. Our council was good enough to send out a rubbish collection day leaflet that shows whether it's recycling week or not and I've got that stuck to the fridge. I must be one of the anal ones Kay because most of my neighbours seem to follow me It's a bit disastrous when I forget.

We have the same red yellow and green. Our method (well I say 'our' it's actually Mr Penny who does the bins at our place) is to have the red bin and whichever other one is due that week at the side and close to the front of the house and the off week one round the back. When Mr Penny brings the bins in he wheels the empty fortnightly one round the back and puts the other one round the front. We spent a fun two hours and more at Centrelink today trying to sort out our bank accounts, we have a lot of small term deposits which need regular updating and yesterday our CBC account locked up on Mr Penny when he was trying to do it. He thought he must be having a senior moment, but the lady at Centrelink couldn't make it work either so we think it must be a glitch in the bank's system. In the end we've had to leave it with her to sort out. .

that is a good method for knowing which bins go out Penny... neither of us here are that well organized
term deposits are the best thing to do as interest rates are so low.. I currently have a 3 monthly one on the go

I have to drive my trash to the waste management site.
I didn't know that when I first moved here. I thought the only option was to burn, like the neighbors do. I wasn't about to help deplete the ozone layer. I started putting the trash in the barn. That got smelly and gross rather quickly. And it took weeks to clear out the trash once I figured out where to take it.
I produce about one 13 gallon bag of non-recyclable trash every week.

We usually have one bin liner bag full of waste/rubbish every week.. Small-medium sized bag.
Friut/vege waste is in bokashi bucket (which ferments and ends up buried in the garden). . Recycling in the yellow lid bin.
Some councils all food waste can go in the green lid bin..

Don't forget your bin tonight AC! Dawn when we lived in the country we used to have to take our rubbish to the local tip Penny, CBA did have some sort of a glitch.. I'm sure I heard them say on the news that people's money temporarily disappeared from their accounts.

i forget which day it is and which week for each bin , luckily a neighbor ''up the road '' a bit is a stickler and puts them out the day before (by stickler i mean it's early in the day ) i just rely on him .. i did spend 2 hours fixing his dirt bike once (in my defence )

Thanks Deb, I read about that glitch after I'd posted - it could be what caused our problem. Anyway, I think Centrelink have sorted it.

i never have to worry about it, my bin lives on the verge. my neighbor comes to get the aluminum we put out back, he gets money for it and doesn't charge to mow my lawn. glass and plastic jars and bottles get rinsed and put in another bin, the " church lady" picks those up. cardboard boxes go to work with curtis for their recycler who pays them a quarter a pound. grease goes to my old convention center for recycling still.

Here's a recycling joke on me.
I was saving newspapers (yeah, I know my age is showing) for the longest time because the recycling center said they would pick them up. It turned into a strangle hassle. I had them on a table and then the stack got too big, they went on the floor and then into a room and then into the kitchen and then I tied them up and took them outside. I made a platform for them, covered them with tarp. You have to understand that this stack grows every day.
I drove to the recycling center and said please come get these! I brought some and showed the date of 2015. I gave them my number and address. That was 4 months ago.
I don't think they are coming.

Put them over garden beds to keep the weeds down Dawn. You have to cover them with soil or mulch then or they will blow away.
I am not a good gardener anymore. I used to enjoy it but couch grass is my number one enemy and I've given up.
