My young gay male friend recently received a 2024 census.
I told him that’s impossible, it must be a scam, because they only do the census every 10 years and they last did it in 2020.
He said it’s a legit thing - to look it up on the Internet. It is a legitimate thing! But they’re only sending it to certain people.
Then he tells me his biggest concern is all these personal and invasive questions they are asking him.
He told me some of them and I agree it’s very invasive and not any of their business.
For instance, they want to know how long his commute is to work and what time he leaves his house every day.
I don’t know how they know that he is gay but one of the questions is - is he in a current same sex relationship or is he single?
One part notes that he is white, then asks where his ancestors are from. (How would he even know that unless he was into genealogy or did a DNA test?)
And he hasn’t even looked through all 16 pages of questions yet!
I’m almost waiting for him to tell me that one of the questions is how often does he have a bowel movement?
I totally would not fill out the form. But if you don’t do that, there are fines.
