No but I get a flu shot every year. You do know, I assume, that flu is not 'just another cold' . Correct. That wasn't my point. My point is that covid is a cold type virus. It's a dangerous one, but it's a cold virus. It also constantly mutates. That's why they had to change the definition of vaccine. In any case, I don't claim to have the answer for everyone on this. I have the answer for me. I got the original strain, and I haven't been reinfected in coming up on three years now, despite multiple, lengthy exposures. I never got a shot.

I just don't like medical procedures being done to me. I don't “trust science” . I remember the 1970s- use saccharin - then… don't use it or you will die. Drink coffee! Don't drink coffee, or you will die! Nope. I’m all organic these days. Coffee, alcohol, tobacco - good. Vaccinations, sucrose, preservatives - bad. Right on, Dawn. Back in 1975 the big cause of some cancers was bacon, or the process done to of bacon. My mother was in the hospital at the time fighting cancer. What did they serve her for breakfast? Bacon! I always get the flu shot. Have had three Covid shots but won't be getting any boosters. Since having the Covid shots I have been diagnosed with A-fib. Just sayin'........

Covid is unpredictable. I do have some observations that I personally think are true. If you got the original strain and survived, which 99% of us did (survived I mean)............a smaller percentage if you want to include people on the eve of death already................you are the best protected of anyone. We had a large outbreak at our church and those that got it at that time are doing really well. Two elderly men in poor health did die after getting it. One definitely died from Covid.............but his health was shit and he was on oxygen before getting it. He was advised to stay home, but he would not. The other died many months later from a different cause, but Covid messed up his health for sure. He was 89 though. The rest of us never got it again............three years later. Friends and family that got later versions, vaccinated or not..............some have done well, some have not. None passed from Covid. The other fact that I got out of this, healthy children should not get covid vaccines. That is negligent and stupid.

Possibly young children should not get the vaccine at this stage but I'm trusting the science. It is recommended that children should get a flu shot and I'm not sure about that either. Childhood diseases, yes, they certainly should. Rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough. Polio, please don't bring that back.
I'm glad I am fully boosted against this strain of Covid. I've been getting a flu shot every year for the last four or five years. My dad's brother died from flu. Had never been sick in his life, and I mean that. Never had a day off from work.

Yes, the flu can be deadly. I know of somebody locally that died from it in her 30s. Agreed on the traditional vaccines. You know, the ones that fit the original definition................As for flu shots. Isn't the success rate for choosing the correct strain something like 15%? I could be wrong on that, but so many vaccinated get it anyway, it's kind of ridiculous. Yeah, so if they guess the correct variant, it is pretty effective. If not, all bets are off. www.cdc.gov/flu/vaccines-work/vaccineeffect.htm#SnippetTab

I have never heard of it, Goblins. I googled and it is done under general anesthetic and a day surgery so no need to stay in the hospital. That's got to be a plus.

They shock your heart similar to when they use the paddles. Sometimes it restores normal heart rhythm and sometimes it doesn't. I have to have it done. Ugh!

I knew a couple of people who have had defribulators (sp?) implanted. Is that something similar?

SVT here Supra ventricular tachycardia diagnosed years ago.
Have survived without any intervention. I was never convinced
of the diagnoses because it was at the same time I had my thyroid removed.
Good luck with it goblins, I hope your quality of life is improved with the
procedure.

Thanks for all the well wishes. It would be nice to have some energy again. But there are risks with the procedure. With me, it has been one thing after another lately.

My Cardioversion was today. Checked into the out-patient waiting room. Taken back to the room. Hooked up to an IV. Wired for the procedure. Wired for and given an EKG test. The test came back my heart rhythm was normal. They sent me home! Why didn't they do the EKG first????

That's great news! They didn't do the EKG first because they still wanted to give you a shock

I’m in the middle of organising our biggest women’s golf event of the year being held this weekend. I’ve started getting emails almost every day with people withdrawing from the competition because they have covid. These are players from Queensland to ACT to northern Vic and locally. It’s everywhere
