This story has left me absolutely speechless

This woman could easily have been my mum. 90something year old woman with dementia who sometimes, uncharacteristically, becomes aggressive. Frail and needing a walking frame for mobility.
That was my mum’s story in the last months.
I remember the story about Ms Nowland doing a skydive on her 80th birthday being on the local news. She was awesome.
How the fuck did someone, anyone, think that tasering this woman was an appropriate solution to the situation? I can’t even think how her family is feeling (actually, I can and it’s not good)
What were the nursing home staff and police thinking she could do? Why were the police called in the first place? Why aren’t nursing home staff trained in dealing with aggressive dementia patients? Should they even need to be? Shouldn’t anyone’s natural reaction be to distract and calm the poor woman, without calling in the police?
Tasering is supposed to be the response action employed instead of shooting a perpetrator. How endangered did all these people feel by a frail old lady (albeit with a knife)?
I am beyond furious with this story (and obviously not speechless after all)
