I put our new tree up this afternoon. I like it except it’s not as tall as I thought it would be, so I’ve put it up on a storage box (disguised with one of my MiLs smaller quilts) and now I’m really happy with it. It came already wound with lights so it looks good “out of the box” I’ll put the decorations/ornaments on tomorrow

I will put ours up tomorrow. I bought a new one last year and it fluffs up quite well so will get it out of storage tomorrow, the lights and baubles too.

I don't think there has ever been a hard and fast rule about when the tree should go up, but it is supposed to be be bad luck to leave it up after 12th Night. (January 5th, The eve of the feast of The Epiphany)

I don't think there is either Penny, I've always done ours on the 1st weekend of December for as long as I can remember as that is what my Mum always did. I generally take ours down on new years day though I have taken it down earlier on some years but mostly stick to NYD.
I have got as far as putting the storage bag with the Tree in it in the Loungeroom but that is as far as I've got, I will put it up later.

Tree went up last night and I did the lights and beads and will do the rest today.
Somehow I knocked it out of it's base when I was fiddling with the lights and I can't get it back in without starting again, so this year I have a wonky tree (again).
It's also molting a lot this year. I wouldn't mind a smaller tree now. It's a seven foot tree which is lovely, but not so easy when you're a five foot person.

No the tall one's aren't easy that I will concur on joono. I have a smaller 5ft Tree which I put up one year, it was nice and easy.
Well it's up and I've fluffed the branches but that is about it, I might put lights on and start decorating it later, maybe.

Our Xmas tree is still in the garage roof. OH tripped when going for a walk on a hill and has sore ribs. Don't think he'll be that keen to get the tree down today.

It does look good joono and I have finished mine, decorated and has the lights on.
I also noticed a slight lean when I looked at the base, just needs the screws adjusting but it is barely noticeable. I miss one of my old trees that just the slot in legs not the screw in base like they have now.

I spent a lot of time over the weekend trying to find where I had put the Christmas tshirts.
You know what it is like..........the longer you look the dumber the places are.
I found them tonight..............in the draw in the spare room.
I mean .............really.............who put them there.......what a stupidy normal logical place to have put them.
Why weren't they in the manhole............or shed..............or laundry.........garage.............under the house.......any of the places I looked.
Good grief.

Meanie 😀
DJ's had 40% off all Christmas decs. I had a $20 voucher there..$35 worth of decs came home with me.
I've been getting my online orders sent to an Aust. Post office for pick up due to a missing parcel recently. Yesterday an AP staff member tried to give me someone else's parcel (same surname). At a store same thing..tried to give me the wrong click n collect.
Xmas tree not in the house yet.

Gee, that's not good Fig.
I got sent the $20 voucher too. I also still have a $100 gift card from Myer from my birthday so they will both be put to use on my next city day.

We did too lyn and I used to get a real one when our kids were little. But it’s just so much hassle, especially getting rid of it later. I’ve got a feeling you can buy Christmas/pine air spray to get the smell. I have a lovely Christmas scented candle which I light on Christmas Day. A local woman makes them so I bought a few a couple of years ago as gifts and kept one for myself.

We had a real tree too. Dad went and chopped one down on the farm. We also had real trees for a few years when our girls were young. They were sold near our house so just carried them home...probably $10..not $60 like they are now.
About 5 years ago my son in law spotted a Santa with Skis in Vinnes (approx 40cm high, quite a few years old). He doesn't even like going in op shops but he bought that Santa. Last week my daughter noticed it had a battery case lid. She put some batteries in and nothing happened. She googled and found you have to stamp you foot on the floor and Santa moves and plays music. They love him more even more now.
Their floors are that imitation wood look panels. I can't really see if Santa was on a tiled floor the foot stamping would work?
