I have a question for our American friends. I’ve just watch a “cooking” video clip that included Campbell’s Cheddar Cheese in a can - like soup. Is this real and do people actually use it? It looked absolutely vile

It sounds slightly better than a whole chicken in a can.

I did see that on Twitter So healthy She even wants to add more to fool her kids into eating all the healthy veg. I'd love to know the sodium content.

if the children didn't want to eat vegetables, they would just pick them out and toss them
people wouldn't eat chicken nuggets if they knew what they re made of

Yes, it is real. Ranks right up there with Cream of Chicken, Cream of Celery, Cream of Mushroom, and Cream of Onion. They all are good in a hot dish.

Yeah was going to say it reminded me of Cream of Chicken Soup only the colour is different That should be put on the Facebook page 'rate my plate' seen a lot worse on that than this but yeah it's not exactly appetizing that's for sure.

It looks a bit like that cheez whizz that came in a jar. I must admit I used to like grilled cheez whizz on toast when I was a kid.

I love chicken nuggets!
I buy boneless skinless chicken. Cut it into nugget sized pieces. Dredge it through egg, then flour and spices. Pan fry in canola oil until crispy and golden.
I promise it’s not icky.

As for canned condensed soup...
Every once in a while I get a craving for the cream of chicken or mushroom.
The Campbell’s recipes are usually assembly recipes. You don’t usually “make” anything.
The worst is the thanksgiving green bean casserole.
Canned beans Canned soup Canned French fried onions
I haven’t had it since I was forced to eat it as a kid.

Entire recipe books for using Campbell soup have been around since the 1960s. Maybe the desire for quick and easy came about with more women entering the work force?
Here is a recipe from the drunkest state in the US.......
Wisconsin Beer and Cheddar Soup.
56.29 g Butter
1 Yellow Onion (large, diced)
2 Celery Stalks (diced)
2 Carrots (medium, diced)
½ Orange Bell Pepper (or red, diced)
2 cloves Garlic (minced)
1 Bay Leaf
46.14 g Flour
591 mL Chicken Broth (or vegetable as substitute)
239.37 g Cream
336 g Beer (well-balanced or predominantly malty)
5 g Salt (or to taste)
2.5 mL Pepper
5 mL Dry Mustard (ready powdered or grind whole mustard seed)
20 mL Worcestershire Sauce
2.5 mL Red Pepper Flakes (or cayenne, optional)
710 mL Cheddar Cheese (shredded, white cheddar works too)
3 stalks Green Onion (green part only, chopped, for garnish)
add Bread Croutons (optional, for garnish)

Well, I saw that there was a conversion option so I used it. Do you have measuring spoons and cups that are that precise?

lol i wondered why it was so precise - i should have realised it was converted

those measurements don't make sense, a ml is a liquid measurement....cheddar cheese? should be grams? beer? should be ml?
i make Firehouse Chilli with beer as an ingredient
Dawn, your chicken nuggets are real

Makes me laugh when you do a reduced servings conversion and it wants you to add 2/3 of an egg 😂
