It’s funny because last night they made such a big deal about this ice storm and on my way to work I got stuck behind two ice trucks in Jackson.
On the way home I noticed an ice truck waiting to go on the 412.
I never saw anything worse than rain.
The ice storm that killed me was when they did not predict an ice storm. That was when I was trapped in my house for four days without any heat or power.

Hey Ms D~
Your area must have been hit with ice? Do you have power? (If you don’t, you probably won’t answer 🤔)
Going to work last night was relatively easy, but I went the longer, safer way to get there. It was really annoying to have salt fly up on my window and I couldn’t use my frozen windshield cleaning fluid or frozen wiper blades. I did some serious squinting.
I put an ice cube on my porch last night to monitor the melting factor. There is no melting. With the windchill it is 20°. (-6.7 Aussie).

I had to look up what an ice storm is. I've never heard of it before.

Record cold this weekend across the US. Minus 33 degrees(C) in Denver on Sunday- with a forecasted high of -28(C).
I love these occasional cold snaps- it will be like +7(C) a week from now which feels practically tropical in comparison.
Hope everyone stays safe!

We have had the mildest summer weather with heaps of lovely rain. Summer
last year was bushfires and drought. February is always our hottest month and
here we are with the highest temp being 26deg for the following week.

lucky you, Lyn, we have had the hottest summer in my memory, and very little rain, very dry here...summer usually means storms and lots of rain, but not this time
but thankfully no plus 37 or minus 7

So far the ice we had was almost gone so hit the grocery stores on Saturday.... I overstock during bad weather for us and the critters.... This nasty stuff is beginning again!!! One time I wish the weather-know-it-alls-half-of-the-time were wrong!!! Be careful on the roads!!! I've seen times when this kind of weather pretty much shuts the entire city down.... 😢

They cancelled work tonight.
I have been with this company 14 years this month and have never seen them do that.
I don’t really know what to do with myself. I got up anyway and made coffee like my “normal”(for Madara lol).
But now what?

My neighbor literally just told me that if the power goes out and I have no heat to come to her place because she has both a fireplace and propane.
I told her that I cannot leave my dogs behind they will freeze to death.
She told me to bring them with me and they will figure it out.

I mean that her dogs will figure out someway of accommodating my dogs if the need arises.
That’s a good neighbor.

Why am I awake in late afternoon? I have no idea about time right now. They sent me a message just now about canceling work again tonight. I have almost 30 hours off.
So my neighbors and I are getting really chummy right now because we are all stuck here and want to make sure everyone is OK.
My one neighbor just told me that her dog died on her couch a couple of weeks ago. He was a good dog. I met him several times. He really was a good dog and I’m glad he got to go while sleeping on the couch.
It made me think, though, I have never had a dog die naturally. I’ve always had to put them to sleep. What is it like to have a dog die and find their body? I have no idea?
I’ve always held them as they took their last breath and brought them home and buried them in my yard.
Is there a better or worse way to handle this?
Lily is starting to show signs of her old age, This cold weather makes her joints and hips hurt. I can see what she goes through. She’s just going to be another one that I have to put out of misery. Why can’t I have a dog go to sleep on the couch and die?

Why can’t I have a dog go to sleep on the couch and die?
because you love them and help ease their suffering ...
a better way to handle it for you would be for you to find your pooch curled up all snuggly in their bed expired from natural causes - a better way for your puppy is to be wrapped up in your arms in a hug with their loved one as they go to sleep, free from suffering....
After having to have my last pup put to sleep I made the decision to never have another pet, when they go it hurts! Then along came the hairball (hey mum can you look after the cat for a couple of weeks.... 5 years later I'm still kitty sitting him....) ....
I swear he will be the last one...

My ebay friend had her doggie PTS yesterday. He was curled up in her lap in a big comfy chair.
They gave him a calming injection first and then the canula.
This morning she reported a double rainbow in the sky.

Oh no...frozen pipes...hope they don't burst😫
Nowhere near as bad as you get it.... When we lived in the south of the South Island (NZ) we experienced a once in a 50 year snow storm.. burst pipes everywhere 🙁. We lived semi-rural..had a water tank and pump..the pump froze. Had to bucket water out of the tank. Long waiting list for new pumps. Took our washing to unaffected neighbours or friends houses.
Fire Service filled up peoples baths (who had no water).
The days were sunny and the girls had such fun playing in the snow (which stayed on the ground for two weeks). Was school holidays.

I guess I forgot to leave the water running. Habit. Now the pipes are frozen and I have no water. Dawn be sure to open your hot and cold water taps just a little for when they do thaw out!!! I forgot to turn the heat on in my utility room where the hot water heater is!!!! Also, didn't think about leaving the hot tap on a little bit!! The pipe in the heater cabinet froze...a neigher came over and checked for me. He put a regular lamp in my hwh cabinet with a 100 watt bulb ..I turned the heater on in this room and presto...12 hours later I have hot water again....yippie aye yeah!!!! Be sure to open both hot and cold taps a little...before they thaw...in your bathrooms (the tubs, the showers, and sinks)....and kitchen.... Good luck!!! Your situation is probably different...because I did have running cold water...not a drip from the hot. I believe opening the taps will keep them from breaking when they begin to thaw out...my neighbor told me this and he was right about the lamp and the room heat....
