It seems that although many weren't infected by the actual virus they have been infected by finger pointing, pettiness and plain out bitchiness, taking out their frustration of the situation on others, especially those they perceive to have had some sort of an 'advantage' they themselves didn't have.
I hope this infection doesn't leave permanent scarring.

if it does, at least it won't involve lungs, kidneys or livers. or blood clots, ...hhmmm...unless the brain has just turned into a great big clot....hhmmm....

My niece is a nurse on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic.
She is, at this moment fighting the virus.
This is her experience in her own words.
**********************************
I like to think that a nurse has a sort of "invisible shield" 🛡️ around them.. a shield to protect them so that they can help and protect ⚔️ others from harm.. physical, emotional, and spiritual 🌈 harm.. and that shield is strong. My shield was penetrated and cracked 14 days ago. Broken by COVID.. and it has weakened me and it takes and takes and takes..🦠 For those of you who think COVID is not real, or "not that bad", or "just a bad flu/cold", or simply "something only those with underlying conditions" can get, I'll tell you this.. you can stop reading now and kindly remove yourself from my friends list.. I don't have time for your argument.. COVID has changed me and I no longer have time for crap. I had fevers for 8-9 days with temps from 100-103.3 🤒 with my heart pounding at 100-120 beats a minute, and taken more than recommended amounts of Tylenol 💊 seeing very minimal changes in my fever. Our bodies are a finely tuned machine and when one area is out of sync it throws us out of commission. A fever that long.. what will the lasting effects be?? I don't know.. 🤔 or that much Tylenol...💊 Cold sweats 🥶 where I need to change clothes, where my hair is soaked, where my blankets are soaked.. what will the lasting effects of that be?? I don't know.. 🤔 Feeling dizzy when I move, not being able to think clearly..how long will that last.. I don't know.. 🤔 To cough so hard you end up on the floor dizzy and gasping for a breath.. what will the effects of that be over time.. I don't know.. 🤔 Why me.. I'm a nurse, I wear my PPE.. I take care of very sick people.. I have followed the rules to keep my community safe.. 😷 The next time you think "it's not a big deal" and you choose to be careless and are so worried about your own damn rights being taken away because God forbid you are asked to wear a mask to help stop the spread of this virus, stop being so selfish.. my life matters too!! And you never know whose life will be affected.. and for how long their life will be affected. This is my life.. I've got NO time for irresponsibility. I want my shield back.. 🛡️ I want to see my patients.. 💯 I want to see my grandkids.. 😎🤓🤠😍.. I want my life back.. 🌷 ****************

Hear hear Pepe. My sister in law is a doctor working at a hospital. All the staff were told at the beginning of all this that they can fully expect to be infected by the virus. Luckily it is fairly under control here and she was not. Touch wood.
Wishing your niece a full recovery, Goblins.

Thanks, you guys.
She said the nights are so dark and long. We, as those in need, can't begin to thank all who have put themselves between us as individuals and Covid. What brave people they are.

Goblins, all the best to you and your niece. I watch the US ABC news every day, and today i see that NYC is begging for retitred doctors and nurses to come back to help....the numbers of covid pts in hospital are staggering nurses have always been underrated, you are right, they are very brave

I think we need to hear more about people who have had covid-19 ..who survived it (can still have serious health issues from it) or sadly didn't... especially for those who claim covid-19 is no different from the flu.

Some of the blokes on one of the forums I frequent have had it, or currently have it. They said the first week was rough, but week two was ok,. They did say they still have fatigue and one bloke has lost his voice. On another board I look after, the husband of one of the members has just been diagnosed with it. They are in the UK. I doubt he will survive it, and if she gets it, well, I don’t like her chances either.

Hi Goblins- thinking about you and yours- sending much love! Thank your niece for all she does. The selfless dedication is something that deserves the utmost respect and honor. 21 January 21- if she can hang in for another few weeks- things will get better.

That’s terrible @clarabelle. How distressing for everyone concerned.
I don’t know anyone who has had it and only a handful (I think) who have even needed to get tested. We have been so lucky here. Fingers crossed for the summer holiday season

My niece said yesterday was the first day she has felt a little bit like her old self, but the fatigue is overwhelming.
Hi Dalt. Always love hearing from you. Tell Ms. D hi from me. please. Can't send her any messages of course. Have to admit, other than you and a few others, I do not miss the stupidity that abounds at the RU.
Thanks again everyone for all the well wishes for my niece. She is a hard-working, loving person who deserves the best.

so do you, sweetheart. as for hearing from/ about people who have dealt with this virus? my sister had a heart attack due to the inflammation caused by it, and also had major blood clots. it took 4 surgeries to keep her alive, and she will deal with permanent issues and daily meds for the rest of her life. she's only 52 and was previously healthy as a horse, other than spinal disc issues. that is my reality.

So sad to hear this, Sin.
Does she live in Wisconsin? We are having a terrible surge of the virus. Between 6000 and 8000 new cases a day. The death toll on the rise.
Long winter ahead.

yes, she's in GB, not far from Lambeau. I'm really grateful to her bosses, they are going above and beyond to protect their employees and their clientele.

Fortunately we have had a very low rate of cases where I live, so don't know anyone that has had covid-19. Social distancing still in force (not that everyone takes notice of that). A hospital I went into the other day took name, mobile number and did a temp check of everyone who came in.

I want to do it with Crapsie’s avatar because it’s sooooooo hot. I can’t have real relationships with people because I’m so nuts. Most people think I should be locked in an institution because I am bat shit crazy. Crapsie is the only person that loves me. I bet.

I was talking (Texting) to my not daughter in law (They never married but she has several of my grandkids)... She is deaf (In California) (I mean she lives in CA, she is deaf all over, not just CA) and told me this last year+ has been a struggle for her, not being able to read lips. I never had considered that.
Meanwhile 3 people at work tested positive but have no symptoms. Almost everyone has been vaccinated. I’m not vaccinated because I believe Sigh- not taking the bio weapon of jabbiness.
One of the 3 is a recent hire and has sorta latched on to me like a puppy. Tonight when she approached me, I told her “Get away from me you Covid freak!” Then I made the cross sign with my hands and hissed.
This is something I wouldn’t think of doing two years ago.
It’s never going to end, is it?
