I laughed out loud when I read that letter. As usual, it's all about Trump and what the organization didn't do for HIM.

i saw that, Deb, he is a childish narcissist........when he was younger, about 35, he sat at a huge desk, and every morning there was a big stack of magazines and newspapers with post it notes attached to every article where his name was mentioned, he read every one before any other work was started......who does that? ...lmao... That's one big ego he's been packin' around...

Today, I found out that Florida has been ordered by our governor DeSantis that flags be lowered in honor of the death of Right Wing radio shock jock Rush Limbaugh.
So appalling that such an honor be bestowed on a person who was instrumental in stoking the hate and division that inspired the base to support Trump.

i think the Guardian posted that story a few days ago , could have been elsewhere . he obviously is like me and has no regard for flags ?

Truthfully, madara, for the last couple of weeks I have been (by choice) off the daily news cycles.
So, I am not a source of breaking news.
Since Trump has been voted out I feel less and less compelled to have to tune into the crisis of the day.
Got this info on another board and it just blew me away.
First the pig got a medal of Freedom and now he gets flags flown at half mast..... and I also am not about flag waving either. Somehow still feel insulted.

tends to cheapen more than a flag i guess , i tend to have spells away from day to day crap as well . . i find it a totally justifiable act of self preservation .

a funny line from a baldacci book, applies to most of the US apparently
"Arizona was open carry, concealed carry, any carry you wanted, no permit, training, or brain required"

I'd love to be able to defend against that.....but it is basically true.

we stayed up last night and watched some of the closing statements in the Chauvin case last night... but we only watched part of the prosecution's statement
I wonder how long it will take the jury to reach a verdict?

it's a coin toss really. it could be today, or it could take 2 weeks. hopefully within 24 hours, though.

I have heard it said that Chauvin's conviction prevented rioting.
Well, duhhhh!
Maybe we are finally getting somewhere.

my cynical side says the verdicts will be overturned on appeal, but i am happy he was found guilty - hopefully this sends a message to the out of control cops that they no longer have a free pass

His odds of success in appeal are said to be slim. Let's hope so.
I know some charged here for various major offences have tried to get off saying media/social media interference prejudiced their case but I don't think that has worked for anyone yet.

guilty.. guilty.. guilty... justice is served as well as it can be, anyway. i hope chauvin gets 40 years . george floyd gets no more years because of him. and i hope he end up in the public population, he doesn't deserve special treatment.

i'd like to think this will bring some change in police behaviour, but it won't yes it will, mags, it's already begun in my city , and my sister's too. it will be slow, but it WILL happen. just like the14th and 19th amendments, and the start of civil rights, it takes time on top of a true start. that true start was this case, and change began as soon as chauvin and his cohorts were charged. we are on the road to where we need to be.

I know some charged here for various major offences have tried to get off saying media/social media interference prejudiced their case but I don't think that has worked for anyone yet. with 3 guilty verdicts of murder, he hasn't got a chance at getting out of jail no matter how many appeals are filed.

It was from this story, Sin. www.nytimes.com/2021/04/20/us/columbus-ohio-shooting.html"A teenage girl who the police say threatened two girls with a knife was fatally shot by an officer in Columbus, Ohio, on Tuesday afternoon, shortly before a jury reached a guilty verdict in the murder trial of the former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in last year’s killing of George Floyd. The girl’s death cast an immediate pall over public expressions that justice had been served in Mr. Floyd’s case and touched off protests in Ohio’s capital city."
