So.. Americans are starting to protest the shutdown and the effect of it is definitely starting to show. miami airport is having to shutdown a terminal part time, and that's a BIG deal. right here locally, some friends won't be able to fulfill contracts in other states with their craft beer because their logo can't be authorized, that department is largely shut down. this is also affecting the native american population, an elder died in new mexico because there wasn't enough staff to do a welfare check on him when his family couldn't, due to a massive blizzard. and as of today, THIS is now the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, all because the corrupt incompetent real estate salesman/reality show host in the white house didn't get his way.

Sin, Do you think the majority of Americans blame Trump, or do they blame the Democrats for not giving in to him?

Sin, Do you think the majority of Americans blame Trump, or do they blame the Democrats for not giving in to him? in my personal experience, the majority of the people i know are blaming trump, even the republicans. they know tht he stated he would be proud to shut down the government to get his way, and they know that this kind of expenditure for the wall trump wants is stupid, pointless, unnecessary and WON'T work. living in aircraft central/the plains/the midwest, you learn how easy it is to just cut through ANY kind of metal wall, especially the one being touted, which isn't even a true wall. many also blame mitch mcconnell, as well they should, since HE is the man putting a stop to bills passed in the house even being presented to the senate for a vote. trump can veto, or not sign, and the bills could STILL be passed, which is exactly why he's stopping it. HE needs to be removed from his leadership position, and the rumor mill says that may happen if he keeps it up. there are people who blame the dems, of course, but i just give them a link to th roundup and tell them to have fun. anyone with a brain knows that there was a unanimous decision made and passed that trump refused to sign because rush, ann and sean told him he'd look like a pussy if he did. the opinions of his fellow reality stars is FAR more important than our country is, apparently. the ONLY reason i don't call for trump's removal too often is simply that i REALLY don't want PENCE running my country, THAT is truly terrifying!

absolutely not, maggie! here's the wiki article about his political history for you, you'll see what i mean. ANYONE who is" christian, a conservative and a republican, IN T,HAT ORDER, is bad for this country. if you think of it, ask brad about him too, brad is from indiana and still has family there. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Pencethank you, and thank you, penny, i tried to put it as politely as i could, lol! but frankly, i see this country heading for a deep recession, if not depression, very soon, and it WILL affect people like irish and moldy, whether they believe it or not.

almost a million people have now missed out on their SECOND monthly paycheck, thanks to trump. flights are delayed across the country, farm work is being delayed because farmers can't get their crop money and right here in wichita, fire engines aren't moving due to federal funds not being received. yesterday my bestie watched a city bus burn to the ground after a wreck because the closest fire station couldn't show up and they had to get an engine there from across town. locally there are restaurants with kind owners who are feeding nonpaid government workers and their families for free, clinics who are taking care of people for free, sometimes kansas is a REALLY GOOD place to live.

he'll have a hell of a time pulling it off after a 35 day shutdown and 21 days of the government back up and running. if it could wait all that time, it's obviously NOT a national emergency. he'll be challenged in court by his own kind as well as dems so fast his head will spin. and i'd be willing to lay a hundred bucks on a bet that a judge can and will put a stop to it, at least temporarily. i'd like to believe that even he isn't stupid enough to try it, but i figure he'll at least shut the government down again, if he doesn't get his way. i'm quite sure he's being advised to offer a TRUE compromise, but his megalomania is becoming overwhelming, and it's hurting our country. even moldy commented that if he doesn't start building the wall soon, he'll call trump a failure, THAT was funny! maggie, that's the real world , that that many people live check to check, but trump doesn't live in the real world. he's STILL claiming that all these people who weren't getting paid are on his side. he is SO WRONG.

Lets not forget also that it was a two pronged promise. So I wonder, if Trump declares a national emergency, builds his wall, but fails to make the Mexican pay for it, will Moldy still consider him a a failure? (I'd like to ask him, but I find the Politics board just too depressing to handle.)

we sat up till 3am watching some of Cohen's testimony last night... I haven't watched it all yet, but we recorded the end of it
I'm glad he was able to back up what he was claiming with documents and copies of cheques, otherwise Trump would just be able to discredit him
The Republicans did their best to have the hearing stopped on matters of technicality.. but they weren't able to stop Cohen from being heard

And day by day we are creeping closer to something like a dictatorship. As close as this country has ever come. Ever. This asshole is actually not only ignoring subpoenas he's also telling other people to ignore them. He must be impeached asap. Period end of story.
Some idiots think it will help him if he's impeached without being removed. That's speculative at best. It could work out that he drops in the polls. It could be that with everything that comes out during impeachment the Senate will have to go along. But no one can know what will happen. In the meantime this asshole DESERVES to be impeached.
I've got a sneaking suspicion that some of the people who seem so sure he will benefit from an impeachment actually secretly support him. A part of the "hidden" vote he got last time from some percentage who were embarrassed to admit to supporting while they did. The more sure of it benefiting him the more suspicious of them I am. Because again it's pure speculation on their part.

Not surprising in the least. It was a natural outgrowth of anyone trying to fuck with the election. Go to the place that store, tabulate, categorize and process the actual vote itself. It's the most efficient way to steer an election.

I have misgivings about the front runners in the Dem pack. Except for Biden they seem a bunch of weirdos and wackos. They're all furiously tacking to the left, which they say is the common political strategy to be left in the primary race and move to the center in the general. But between socialists and gays I have severe misgivings about this crop. We need someone that can beat Drumpf, period.

And as I said it should be no great surprise. The surprise for me was if they hadn't breached an election system or two. There's no way they shied away from it. So the only thing stopping them was effort and ability. And Drumpf is basically holding the nations legs open for Russia to continue raping us now and coming up. Him and others. Including and especially Fla.
