I had forgotten we even had it. I found it today when I was hunting for something in the wardrobe. Hubby was doing a job at a really old place years ago and found this ring. It is a child's ring. It only fits about half way down my little finger.

it's a christening or communion ring. by the pattern and the writing, i'd guess it's from the early 20's. depending on the church involved, it was a gift. could you show me the rest of the letters i see on the left? that could help.

This is the best I can get with my camera. The ring is small...........and the writing smaller. Looks like it would fit about a 6-7 year old.

Have you ever looked at rings in an antique shop. Some of them are tiny and they weren't for a child. That's evolution I suppose.

it says 24CT so it could be that the white metal part is platinum or white gold . looks like a few diamond chips maybe ? has an art deco feel to it , i agree with mama on the age .

when I looked on my iPad I thought it might be 10 ct.. with the word plat.. or platinum but now I'm on the PC I can't make it out at all
it could be gold with diamond chips in a platinum setting which is pretty typical for 1920's or 1930's rings
I'd say it's a keeper Flashie

It reminds me very much of my mum's engagement which my sister has now. Sis needed to get it enlarged and also made the mistake of changing the setting to yellow gold when it was originally white gold. She really regrets doing that.
It's crazy that I can only just get my old engagement ring on Flashie. We don't realise how our fingers fatten up as we get older. If you've got fat fingers then so do I.
Madara, you could be right about it being rolled gold, but even if it is the ring is definitely worth keeping. I love it.

okay, i showed it to a joolie friend who says yes, it's 24KT rolled gold, and the silvery part is platinum. she says it's a communion ring and dates it around 1923 from the pattern. i'll show her the bigger pics and see if she can pin down the maker for you. DEFINITELY a keeper! linda's pretty good at this stuff, it's possible she can find the church too, from the letters.

I took the ring to a jeweller...........and this is what he said.
18ct gold & palladium.
Says it has a patent pending so is a mass produced commercial piece.
Dates from c1900-20s.
Stones are likely to be diamonds, but white sapphires were commonly used in such pieces also.
Possibly an eternity ring.
Worth about $200.
It is not in good condition.
So I have decided to keep it as is...........a good story piece to keep in my jewellery box
