We watched a bit of Christine Ford's testimony last night Cy, but it was in the early hours of the morning here so we didn't see his response... i've just now seen an excerpt of what he was saying during that shot... he was saying the accusations were a disgrace.
Cy, when do they actually make a decision on his nomination?

Thanks Maggie... the other women ( 2 or 3?)
How come they didn't get to testify?
Did they not want to? Or not allowed?

Check out Senator Graham's response.....Amazing! This pretty much sums up how most Republicans feel about the whole thing. I don't think the Democrats are doing themselves any favors here....

Surely it can't be automatically dismissed simply because of the party you support? That goes for both sides too. Dems and Republicans.

Surely it can't be automatically dismissed simply because of the party you support? That goes for both sides too. Dems and Republicans. They didn't dismiss her claim....They gave her a hearing....She had no facts, no evidence, no proof...and it was something like 36 years ago....So, she waits 36 years to alert someone a day before the vote? And this is not a political stunt?
I don't buy it.....Remember, we're dealing with a party who does this all the time...It's an old playbook. When they get desperate, they make false accusations. They did it with Bork...They did it with Thomas....This is an old tactic out of an old playbook. You've got to understand what is at stake here for the Democrats....If they lose the Judiciary to Trump's nominees....They've lost an entire branch of government for generations.....Maybe forever...They're not likely going to get the presidency back, and they've likely just motivated the Republican base to turn out for the vote with this little stunt....So....yeah.....They've lost all three branches of government....This was a desperate play to do whatever it takes to keep a tiniest grip on the judicial branch....It's going to be close, because there are some Republican turn-coats (RINOS) like Senator Jeff Flake...(he couldn't have a more perfect name for a spineless traitor)...
Sorry to get in political mode here. I come to this board for a change of pace, but....I can't help it because, I'm a political junkie...But this is better than a Shakespearean plot, don't you think?
Bottom line is....someone can accuse anyone of anything....but if there is zero evidence, and every one of your witnesses denies it ever happening....and all your testimony keeps contradicting itself, and you've been caught up in lies, like the one about having a phobia of air travel as an explanation for holding up the testimony....Well.....it all adds up to sham....We then see Congesswoman Sheila Jackson Lee slipping Ford's lawyer what looks to be a little payola...Look how shifty she looks? These are snakes trying to sabotage a good man. It's not going to work.....

They don't look very supportive to me Cy. More like disgusted. The ones in the front row that appear to have a disgusted look actually started crying with Kavanaugh as he gave his address...it was very powerful. Every time he mentioned his little girl or his dad, he lost it....The ones sitting behind him also started to tear up.....(At least in the front row). If you watch it, you'll see that those aren't looks of disgust...They are attempting to hold back tears.

he lost me when he stated channelling trump, blaming clinton and revenge Well....I'm not sure, but I'm going to say that he was very effective in reaching the people who are going to make a difference in the next elections....I really do think this backfired on the Democrats. It's not going to achieve what they were trying to achieve..
I think the Republicans are going to keep control over both houses of Congress...Trump will easily win a second term, and we're looking at many many generations of a conservative Republican controlled judicial branch. Things like this, end up having the opposite than intended effect for Democrats.
Like I said, I could be wrong. I've mis-judged what the American people were thinking many times before...BUT, this just has a feeling about it like one bridge too far.....The Democrats have jumped the proverbial shark...Just look at Senator Graham's volatile reaction....That's MOST of the Republican party, even the more liberal ones that are reacting like that...Believe me, if someone like Flake votes not to confirm, he's going to have hell to pay....People will come out with the tar and feathers. ....
Something has been awoken here. Mark my words, this is a historically important point. This is a significant event that will be referred to looking back in history as a prominent marker like Clarence Thomas, Anita Hill and the OJ trials...(In US history at least it will be remembered...I'm not sure what the rest of the world is thinking)....
So those are my feelings about the whole thing and where this is heading for what it's worth. Not too scientific, I know, but I've often had a good sense for these things...I read trends pretty well.

Cy, may I please say your comments in this thread are refreshing to read. With others in total disagreement, you answered all queries with respect and affability. This is becoming a lost talent amongst many on both sides of any political discussion.

Cy, may I please say your comments in this thread are refreshing to read. With others in total disagreement, you answered all queries with respect and affability. This is becoming a lost talent amongst many on both sides of any political discussion. Thankyou for saying that. I realized it's probably inappropriate of me to talk about US politics that are unrelated to the thread topic, but I guess that's where my mind has been at lately since I watched the hearing and formulated many thoughts as I watched.
I guess, in a way, this might fit the thread in that it's certainly stuff on the web right now. This is an important thing because the US is definitely such a divided country, so much so that some people are talking about civil war between the two basic political philosophies, the conservatives and the lefties...(I think that's a bit over blown fear mongering because this country has always been divided, and the conservatives are all armed to the teeth so it'd be a short war)....There are some in the controlled propagandist media who say we should all just get along, but I disagree. The system works precisely because there is disagreement.
It's always a battle. Right now, in this case, the Republicans, who some criticize for being too spineless and capitulating in the face of Democrat ruthlessness and solidarity, the Republicans are prevailing, despite every manner of Democrat dirty trick....Right now, the latest delay tactic is to call for another FBI investigation into Cavanaugh, when already he's gone through more background checks than any Supreme Court nominee in history.....It's just an obvious delay tactic. They've got one spineless, not too intelligent Republican named Jeff Flake, to flip on us and basically "flake out".....But that probably won't be enough...It just remains to be seen what dirty trick they're going to try next....
The stakes could not be higher which is why Democrats are pulling out every stop, every dirty trick imaginable....The problem is, they're dealing with an almost superhuman boyscout in the case of Cavanaugh....I mean....the man is about as squeaky clean pure as anyone could be....It's hilarious to watch the best fired bullets just bounce off his chest...Love him or hate him, Trump is going to get his nominee.....Trump doesn't lose.....That's the most amazing thing to watch in all of this...Objectively speaking, it's just an astounding thing to watch regardless of political orientation. It's a human drama worthy of Shakespeare....Think Rome, and Julius Caesar, where Brutus is attempting to stab him in the back.....But imagine a Teflon, untouchable Caesar who just can't be stopped...That's sort of the drama we are witnessing.
