One tweet I saw, and heard Kristina Keneally say the same, if the potato can use discretion for the au pairs why not with this family? The tweet suggested emailing whathisname - the AFL CEO

How can that be if they didn't have the visa for reentry to Australia? They originally came here by boat after Sri Lanka's civil war. Maggie's right. I've read that the father made 3 trips to Sri Lanka and that must be why they lost their case in applying for refugee status.... not sure how Joono, but it must've been before their visas ran out when they were dragged out of their home in the middle of the night by border farce storm troopers overnight Herr Dutton removed them to Christmas Island... took their phones off them and didn't inform their lawyers

The footage was hard to watch, heartbreaking. I wanted to slam the smug bitch holding the mother into next week, telling her to 'not worry and relax'

That is just terrible to watch. We must never forget that is only by accident of birth that we enjoy what we have and donât have to go through hell to live a decent life.

Alan Jones has certainly changed his tune. It just looks like he's trying to reverse the bad publicity he's had lately with the Jacinda Adern remarks and rake his advertiser back in.

I think that boat has sailed. Him & his 'opinions' are past it/ no longer acceptable.
Advertisers should only go back if he's dumped.
He should have learnt from his Gillard chaff bag comment.

I'm so grateful to have been born in Aust. I'm grateful for even having clean drinking water. So many people in the world don't. Breaks my heart watching those ads showing people walking for miles just to get water that's filthy and that makes them sick.

what a shonk this man is... the boat arrival apparently was in May.. a number of news services left that part of the story out and they all used the same footage of a refugee boat that they've been using since 2015 thenewdaily.com.au/news/2019/09/02/scott-morrison-sri-lankan/Prime Minister Scott Morrison has conceded he ordered the release of new data on Sri Lankan boat arrivals to âkeep the threat of illegal arrivalsâ alive. The admission comes after the PM vowed he will not intervene to allow a Tamil family facing deportation to stay in Australia.

They'll be deported. Morrison, Dutton and co don't give a shit and are a pack of fear-mongering, cold hearted arseholes. Advocates have done all that they can for the family and now their fate rests on today's Court outcome. Those two little girls have been kept locked up in detention for a long time. The eldest girl found it hard to understand why she couldn't go outside to play or why she couldn't go home. The little girls have suffered from ill health but the government doesn't care. They want them gone. End of story.
Oh, and its been over three weeks since a group of men on Manus have been heard from. The, now, 54, have been taken into custody with no charges being laid and no communication with the outside world. They have been "disappeared". If only the asylum seekers and refugees were white au pairs........

Adjourned until Sept 6 with an interim injunction to prevent the removal of the applicant from Australia..

I saw Morrison got called out on his comment that family once back home could still apply to enter Australia as refugees /apply for approriate Visas.
Except people in their circumstances before being able to return to Aust. have to pay up front the cost of their detention while here previously..which could be hundreds of thousands and even more than a million dollars. A law that mob brought in?

my scottish friends have been talking to me about the whole brexit thing, trying to explain all sides of the picture to me. i know it's got to be tough for them to try to explain why the people they disagree with want different things to happen, i give them HUGE kudos for trying.

oh look.. the media have been telling us that the father went back to visit 3 Sri Lanka times.... but did he. or is this a straight out lie from Dutton?? www.sbs.com.au/language/english/biloela-tamil-family-facing-deportation-rebuffs-dutton-s-claim-of-sri-lanka-tripsPeter Dutton said he travelled back to Sri Lanka on a number of occasions and he had been unable to convince a succession of courts that he would be in danger. "No. He has not been to Sri Lanka since arriving here," Priya said. "I am very certain about that. How could he when he was here on a Bridging Visa. Only if the Australian Government had granted permission, he could have visited Sri Lanka anyway. It is a very wrong comment."

That's what I thought Deb. How would it even have been possible? He might have been able to go back but I don't see how it's possible that he could return to Australia.

what i heard was that he had been travelling a few times from Sri Lanka to the ME and elsewhere and back again before he left to come here, so "he was not in danger"in Sri Lanka.....as i said, i don't remember where i heard that

thanks, Deb, he doesn't really have reason to fear being returned.....in saying that, i think they should be allowed to stay, they have proved that they are good citizens with the right motives now, unlike some others who have committed crimes.....if their skin was another colour, things would be different
