I heard the AEC advice was that they needed it to be by 18 May to allow them time to count the senate before their term is up.

I wish they'ds just call the election... the word is that the liberal party is broke. I read somewehre that they're in debt for some $3.5 million
the longer he holds off on calling the election, the longer they can use tax payers money to fund their campaigning... it's costing us $600,000 per day

What the hell! Does he want women to be counselled into keeping their marriage together with a violent abusive partner?

The current Govt cut funding by a large amount to Women's Refuges (some had to close down)... that's where they should be giving $10m. so there are safe places for women & children affected to flee too.

www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/taxpayers-bill-for-advertising-hits-136-million-as-scott-morrison-prepares-to-call-an-election-20190408-p51by6.htmlTaxpayers' bill for advertising hits $136 million as Scott Morrison prepares to call an election The Morrison government has ramped up its marketing and advertising campaigns to $136 million in contracts since the beginning of this year, according to tender documents that reveal the cost to taxpayers. The advertising including $16 million for Treasury to promote tax cuts and $6 million for the Department of Jobs and Small Business to tell voters about assistance for employers, helping the government ahead of the election. Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has accused Prime Minister Scott Morrison of using taxpayer funds for political ends before calling the election, an announcement expected within a week.

All kinds of wrong... "Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has sensationally demanded his successor Scott Morrison deal with "very troubling" allegations about Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton's links to Communist Party-aligned billionaire Huang Xiangmo and Liberal lobbyists.
The intervention followed an investigation by the ABC's Four Corners, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age that revealed Mr Huang paid tens of thousands of dollars to secure a one-on-one meeting with Mr Dutton amid a back-room campaign for Australian citizenship.Mr Huang failed in his attempt for citizenship after ASIO objected to his links to the Chinese Communist Party - however his family was given special treatment when Mr Dutton empowered former Labor senator Sam Dastyari to conduct a private citizenship ceremony for them in 2015."www.canberratimes.com.au/story/6009817/the-buck-stops-with-him-turnbull-demands-morrison-act-over-duttons-chinese-donor-links/?cs=14231

at last Kay.. so we have about another 5 weeks of nonsense to listen to... I think we might have a media blackout in our house below are some reasons he called it today Greg Jericho Verified account @grogsgamut 56m56 minutes ago More So the reason to delay to Thursday was: To make a stack of Lib mate appointments, Have the Treasury Sec snub estimates Approve Adani Avoid having CSIRO appear before estimates Tony Burke Verified account @tony_Burke 2h2 hours ago More One of the consequences of calling an election on a Thursday instead of Sunday is to stop Senate Estimates hearings. In my portfolio alone this shuts down questions to the CSIRO about the Adani approval and Murray Darling hearings scheduled for Friday now won’t happen. #ausvotes also the liberals were very busy appointing their mates to board positions outline.com/pGC2rq

What the hell! Does he want women to be counselled into keeping their marriage together with a violent abusive partner? it would only be suitable before the fact, if one partner realises they have issues under the surface....counselling can and does work in those cases
my opinion is that most of that funding should go to forcing the abusive partner to leave, instead of forcing the woman (usually a woman) and her children to leave their home, their friends, their schools etc

Re DV.. if the woman flees.. she can move to a house/unit somewhere (hopefully) where her violentex can't find her.. whereas if she stays in the home.. then the ex knows exactly where she is and his way around that house/property. The abuser couldn't be moved out 'immediately' either after an altercation.. but the abused partner can - take off for a safer place.
There are about 35 charities here (big &small) that assist women (directly and indirectly) fleeing from domestic violence.. They can be provided with packs of (pre-owned but ex cond) childrens clothes, strollers, baby/child carseats, toys etc. Some charities also provide these items to newly arrived refugees.

Jusr read an article about a Morrison publicity walkabout
"Australian prime minister says ‘Hello’ in Chinese to voter who replies ‘I’m Korean’ Liberal Party leader’s blunder came on campaign trail ahead of May election"
Once having your photo taken with a Prime Minister would have meant something..but now?..most likely we are coming up to three PM's in 3 years..and none of them have achieved much, if anything.

That's pretty wrong when you think about it. If someone walked up to him and tried to accost him like that they'd likely get arrested.

Agree.
He probably shouldn't do it for security reasons either.
Could get stabbed if someone with bad intentions could get that close to him? Not probable but possible.

I was pretty disgusted by those accusations, Sin. They started immediately he put his hand up because the rights know how much he is loved by the Democrats. It doesn't seem to matter that Trump can grab you by the pussy and it's okay.

i'm in a huge battle on another board about it, and getting called nasty names because"how can A WOMAN defend him?" well, gee, maybe because NOBODY he's touched has ever said anything but that they were uncomfortable. some people are just not comfortable with physical affection, and some are fine. and he has stated that he'll try harder to be more considerate about it. i'd be fine with joe giving my grands a hug, trump gets close, he dies. especially with amara.
