I remember that when it happened. Horrible. I'm glad that it is being reopened. Is that priest still alive? I really should google but I'm too bloody tired and lazy.

It seems a bit pathetic the Morrison appointed a new GG today.. another army man who doesn't start until June next year
I guess it's not enough for them, stacking every board and commission with IPA or liberals

Absolutely disgracefully a political stunt to announce the next GG today. An unbiased appointment? Not even close.
And we get yet another old, white, privileged man 🙄

I wonder if labor can get out of it after the election?
I'd prefer Gillian Triggs

I was in two minds until smug Morrison said that David Hurley was the person that said the standard that you walk past is the standard that you accept.
David Morrison is mostly accredited for that but he acknowledged that it was David Hurley that he borrowed it from. I wish Scummo would follow that creed.

And, this charmer ; www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/government-staffer-put-on-indefinite-leave-after-sending-vile-text-message-to-female-journalist-20181216-p50mkm.html?fbclid=IwAR2GfSYmwnKYe02aEs_DMS4fo9qyEkj-I_nfKmUYaLOK5lTO3yOM52UOpLUA government staffer has been put on "indefinite leave" after texting an expletive-laden tirade to a female journalist who recently criticised a federal MP. News Corp journalist Annika Smethurst opened a text message from a Liberal National Party staffer last Sunday night that was littered with abuse, including the terms "feminist c--t" and "bitch". The staffer also wished the recipient's family died "of painful cancer". The texts were sent to Smethurst after the award-winning journalist wrote a piece critical of Queensland senator Barry O'Sullivan's track record with women in politics. But in a statement, Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said the message was "accidentally and inadvertently" sent to the reporter when it was actually intended for a friend. "The staff member was at the time on a day off from his work and was using his personally funded phone. The event had nothing to do with his employment," the Nationals leader said.

o'sullivan is a hideous person (who obviously employs people equally hideous)
Federal Greens leader Richard Di Natale has been suspended after refusing to withdraw his description of Liberal senator Barry O'Sullivan as "a pig", accusing him of throwing "sexist filth" at colleagues.
"We have endured on this side, days of sexist filth coming from that man," Senator Di Natale said.
"He is a pig and he should consider and reflect on the standards he is adopting in this chamber."
The Greens leader refused to withdraw those remarks and said it was important he condemn the treatment of women and the tone of Federal Parliament in recent years.
"I made a commitment to all of our team that I wouldn't stand for it and that I would call it out when I saw it," Senator Di Natale said.
"No woman, in any workplace in Australia, deserves to endure the sexist language that is directed at them in the Parliament of Australia."

I sure do Maggie and his children...nothing worse than a Christian giving us sermons on morals while all the time he's doing something like that.. Apparantly McCormack knew about it weeks ago, (Nov 8) but it took the story breaking to the public before anything was said or done
Andrew Broad referred the girl to the AFP as payback... but the AFP have issued a statement saying there's nothing to investigate

mccormack commented that broad should consider his future
Mr Broad issued a statement shortly after.
"Today I have informed the president of the Victorian Division of The Nationals that I am withdrawing my nomination to contest the Division of Mallee at the next federal election," he said.
