i'll be goin' past the addy. to pick the thing up sometime next week. i wanted it to be sent to another person for a b'day presso.
paypal can remove the option for the seller to use it for genuine friends and family transactions if they get onto what the seller's doin'. avoidance of fees.

Don't buy an item using family & friends... offer to pay the seller the paypal fees they will incur... and see what they say... there's no reason to not accept paypal in that case, if they're genuine, imo.

Unless you are sending money to your family or a trusted friend, don't use that option, ever. If Paypal find out that seller is requesting payment that way they will close their account. It is not safe for a buyer to use as there is NO protection at all.

I don't know why people ask for dumb things like that. I had one buyer overseas that requested that I put gift on the customs docket. It wasn't even a big dollar item so I'm sure they wouldn't have had to pay duty on it.

I've seen quite a few people get burnt on fb buy/sell groups.. the seller says either...they won't take Paypal at all ( want bank deposit with no buyer protection) or they will only take PP friends & family option.. then the scamming seller does a runner with the money.

I have had buyers request to pay by family and friends method to save them paying the Paypal fee (the site I used to sell on allows for sellers to pass the cost to the buyers). When I explained to them that it leaves them with no protection they would soon change their mind.

Yes, in the back of their mind they're probably aware that Paypal has buyer protection.. but they don't know the difference between the selling option and family and friends option.
