I like 5, 10 and 13.
14 "Guy" is so realistic looking.
Okay, my pick is 13.

Number 3 for me.
I would like number 9 but it is annoying that David Wenham's hat is upside down on his head.

I like no 14 .. I thought it was a very realistic paining
but I like Barnsey as a performer and as a person, so I'm OK with his portrait winning

Number 10 for me. It reminds me of visits to my older sister when I was a kid. I loved her art room, and the smell of the paints, and crayons, the thinners and cleaners. I’m also intrigued by the face reflected in the glass. Is it the artist or the artists subject.
i like the lighting and aspect of 17.
18 is my sisters favourite artist.
I also find 19 curious.

These ones are the Packing Room Award finalists. There's also a People's Choice Award ..we'll have to see if any of our choices win that.
There are 58 paintings vying for the Archibald Prize
The head packer gets majority vote in the Packing Room Prize.
"The head packer and his team choose the winner from amongst all entries to the Archibald — but with the head packer holding 52 per cent of the vote, it is largely a matter of personal taste.
Former head packer Steve Peters told 7.30 the criteria are "the work has to be good" and "the subject should be someone that everyone knows".

Yes. That was just a bit of info of how the packing room voting is allocated.

I like the Serenity of Susan Carland. I feel like I know Robert Hannaford. I don’t, but the painting makes him feel very familiar.

There was comment made on the news piece about the finalists last night, that there is a high number of self portraits this year. We’re living in the selfie generation.

sticking with the noel thurgate..clarabelle, she reminds me of a very old friend. a woman who taught me that doing what you enjoy is what life is about, not what people EXPECT you to do. she's a big reason why i cook for a living instead of staying in electronics.

Yeah but the models come cheap maggie LOL That's what I thought Kay. I wonder if people do charge to model for a painting to be entered in the Archibald prize though. It seems an honour.

A few of the artists have been entering paintings for 20 years (and some of them have won in that time)... they're probably running out of well known people, quirky people that haven't been done before

One of our sons made decent money as a life drawing model when he was a student. He has never had a problem with getting his kit off though. He was also once on a foreign TV show, streaking across the lawns in front of Old Parliament House.
Don’t tell the jozos I said that will you.

I still like the Robert Hannaford one the most. I love the expression on Dee Smart's one and ther is something about Del Kathryn Barton's that I like. I wouldn't be surprised if ''The Huxleys'' win.
A friend of mine was the president of the Life Model Association for many years and is a life model himself . They get paid well, something like $35 ph plus travelling costs.

I can't say it really grabs me, but it must have impressed the judges if the decision was unanimous.
