Barnaby is a dick. I think he he resigned as deputy and has dropped out of the limelight because he didn’t want anyone digging too deep in to his activities.

OK now here's a little bit of good news in this sorry saga: #BanLiveExport: From the RSPCA "***BREAKING NEWS*** The Department of Agriculture has just announced that Australia’s biggest live export company, Emanuel Exports, has had its live export licence suspended. This will have an immediate effect on animals, who will now be prevented from certain suffering on board vessels to the northern summer. It is our expectation that the Department will ensure the welfare of all the animals currently at Fremantle Port, as they were being prepared for loading on the weekend. This is a major win for all our supporters, and all of you who have talked, shared, called, written and showed your concern over the last two months. We will continue to update you as information become available, and we won’t stop until this cruel trade has ended. " #RSPCA #liveexport #liveexports

The Farmers And Graziers Association was really narked with Alannah McTiernan for pursuing the matter - but it looks like it's paid off. Well done, Alannah and well done RSPCA.

What a creep that Ian Blayney is. He's not that far off her age himself.
How terrible to have someone that will work their guts out to get the job done, and to make it even more awful it's a woman too.

I suspect that, in this matter, she has the support of most West Aussies. I do feel sorry for the farmers, because I know they are going to be struggling, but it's something that should have been sorted out a long time ago. Complaints had been made and horrific photos published long before that last episode, so I don't believe for a moment that nobody had any idea how shocking conditions were on those ships. It was a case of 'out of sight out of mind' and 'not our responsibility'; and now it's come back to bite them on the bum.

I saw some talking head last night saying the deplorable conditions that had been screened weren't true and how many sheep will be taken down the back paddock and shot.
This is when the government needs to step in. During the transition period, the government needs to buy the excess sheep off the farmers and give the meat to homeless shelters, pensioners, charities etc.

also, they might sell more lamb here if the price came down a bit. Lamb has been quite expensive to buy here for some time.. and it shouldn't be

I don't know how they can say the sheep are usually well looked after. Those sheep are left standing shoulder to shoulder for a couple of weeks or up to a month with no fresh air and often in extreme heat. Given a choice I think they'd rather be taken down the back paddock. Millions of cows and sheep have died on journey and it's a slow painful death.

za Borrello Verified account @elizaborrello 2h2 hours ago More WA Ag min @alannahmac has told @jessicastrutt an abattoir has agreed to process the 60 000 sheep stranded after Emmanuel's licence was suspended by federal regulator. Says meat will be exported + situation could have been avoided if feds (@turnbullmalcolm @d_LittleproudMP) acted.
I hope this s true, if so, well done by her!

here's the article for that tweet
Guardian Australia understands the exporter still intends to deliver the sheep to its buyer in the Middle East and is negotiating with other exporters to use their licence to carry the sheep on the Al Shuwaikh when it arrives in port this week, fulfilling an order placed several months ago.
If a deal can be brokered the sheep would be loaded on the ship “within days”.
how shonky is that! using another exporters licence to export them on the SAME suspended Ship

I was once told that our best meat is sent overseas and that the Australian market is left with the poor quality which is sold at exorbitant prices.

i have been told that too Ava. it is true . you only have to look at the poor quality in the supermarkets
once while in the S/M i wanted some blade or round steak. what was there was dog meat . i asked if they had any other . she said the load was just about to be unpacked a few minutes later she offered me more of the same. i told her it was dog meat and for the price we are paying we should be getting top quality meat not that it was just rubbish.

the mince meat is super fatty. some people i know still buy it like it they say they just cook it then drain the fat off. by the time you did that there would be hardly any meat left. .

I haven't had a look at what's been happening this morning yet.. but to me, that's like givimg your driver's license to someone else who's lost theirs. It should be illegal what they're trying to do, also it shows complete disregard for our laws

Carmella, my coles has 3 grades of mince, ordinary, lean, and extra lean, 3 prices of course, i usually buy the extra lean kind, but occasionally there is a recipe which is better with a bit of fat on the meat

That's true Maggie. I always buy the extra lean but really the next grade down is better for a lot of dishes.

the ones they have here is regular , the next one is premium, then extra premium, all 3 are really fatty it is just one lot of mince is thicker.
i buy it at coles when i am in town. where they do have better quality of their mince meat like you say extra lean. ect . i always buy from there i get the lean and extra lean.

It's been confirmed on tonight's news that a Perth Abattoir is going to take and process the 60,000 sheep stuck in a feedlot after the banning of that transport ship. Well done Allanah McTiernan and the WA Government.

Just weeks after Australia’s second-largest export company, Livestock Shipping Services (LSS), voluntarily withdrew from the dangerous Northern Summer trade, another exporter has announced a halt to shipments to the Middle East.
It has been reported that Phoenix Exports, owned by Harmony Agriculture and Food Company, has cancelled plans to export sheep from Fremantle into the deadly Middle Eastern summer.
