Sounds like that clothing/gift shop lady has spent too much time in Bali. Last time I was there with DD we had a stall holder follow us down the road plucking at our sleeves and telling us how much better her goods were than anybody else's

Hubby said it was about time we got out and cropped the veggie garden. I said you do the tomato and I'll do the capsicum. Sounded like a fair deal to me...........

I might go out and check my veggie gardens. I think that something is eating my unripe tomatoes because there seems to be less and less each time I check. I did notice, the other day, that my feijoa finally, after decades, has one fruit on it. Just one, tiny, developing fruit. lol

Good morning everyone! Hot and muggy here, typical February weather so no surprise. I have been watching the winter Olympics, so many heart wrenching stories of the athletes. It all certainly has my emotions going up and down LOL. How did your frozen food survive Joono? Sin, I am always a bit firm with new employees and when they find out I am a bit of a softy inside, we have at lease set the boundaries and they know not to try to fudge their work. oh! sorry prim, i should have quoted joono's post. i was talking about the folks at the stores i go to for groceries and stuff, or the bank. but yes, when i was"da boss",that's what i did too. mypeople always knew they had a friend in me, but i was BOSS first, when it came to being on the clock. * they still called me mamabear, though, lol!*

We had two established feijoa trees, ava. OH moved them in middle of winter (?) to a less shady spot (didn't get any fruit at all where they were). One is fried now, so will get another one in Autmn..

High of 35 deg today... too high I think police would have a word with someone like that if they were called (the guy taking photos of children). Went out for a nice lunch yesterday.. food looked to good to eat. What actually is it that you had for lunch, Figlet? It's a work of art but I can't figure out what it is. Prim, frozen food was good and still solid. Even the ice cubes didn't melt, amazingly.

I read somewhere that you need two feijoa trees to get fruit. I have two and all I get is one fruit. lol. Mine are in full sun. Perhaps they need more shade.
That's lucky, Joono.

I saw some feijoas trees advertised privately the other day, ava. The ad said.. newer types (tissue culture) you only need one tree, but the older ones grown from cutting/seed? you need two. joono - the meal was salmon covered in sesame seeds, boiled egg, salsa, avo and wasabi puree, kewpie mayo and jalapeno bread (which was pancake thickeness and under the food. They have a regular menu, a vegetarian menu, a vegan menu and a gluten free menu. Dawns thread on DH reminded me of the cafe yesterday.

I'm willing to take the boiled egg!
I have two apple trees. I assumed the red delicious was a boy and the green was a girl. Last year it produced one tiny red apple. Maybe it had a sex change, I dunno.

What is it with these fruit trees, Dawn? Are they taunting us? Punishing us? Have warped senses of humour? LOL
Its another lovely day here. It feels very Autumnal.

Nice cool day here.
I am going to whinge about my frangipani trees as I have given up on the mango tree which has given us 13 mangos one year and nothing more in 11 years. I have 3 frangipanis. The are in large pots and up against a fence with sun most of the day. I have had them for 10 years. Only 1 has flowered in the last 3 years and I get about 4 flowers not the usual head of flowers. I am told I should beat them so they think they are in peril of dying and then they will flower. Anyone had any experience with that method of bringing a tree to flower?

funny isn't it.. we have a huge plum tree, (next door has one too) and we used to get so many plums on the tree that I'd have to hose down the pavement... but it hasn't fruited for about 10 years now.... we also have a huge double grafted pear tree .. one side has green pears, the other side has brown pears, and we used to get a lot of fruit from that too....but for around the past 10 years there's been none... this year I noticed about 6 pears on it... but only one left now due to the possums eating eating them
I wondered if it's because the possums are eating the blossums... or is it climate change, because we don't get as much rain as we used to get.
Prim you're so lucky to have a frangipani and a mango tree... would love to have those in my garden.. but our climate is too cold for them
maybe that's changing??

We didn't plant the mango, it was in the garden when we came here. We didn't even know what it was until it got mangos one year. I actually don't like mangos. I love the smell but don't like the flavour but OH wishes the tree would fruit a little more frequently.

Perhaps, we'll become the new QLD, Deb. I always say that if we wait long enough, this house will become a seaside property. [We're about 30+ kms from the sea]. I'm sure that something i seating my unripe tomatoes. The loss of habitat makes it hard for wildlife so I feel a bit guilty for being annoyed about my diminishing crop becaus at least I could go to the shops and buy tomatoes.

My brother died 30 years ago, today. In some ways, it seems that long but in other ways, it doesn't. A shitty, abusive childhood took its toll on him and heroin was his final release. He was only 25.

So sad, Ava. I had a boyfriend once with green eyes. It was the first thing everyone noticed about him.
We had a family gathering on Saturday at my sister's holiday home to welcome another sister and her husband who are over here from the UK for a holiday. They are doing the rounds of the family and will be coming to us for a couple of days on Saturday, We had a lovely get together, lots of photos were taken - though not by me - and once I have them I'll put a couple on here.

At best, Dawn, we find a place for them in our hearts so that life can continue. Always missed and never forgotten.
My youngest once said that death is the saddest part of life. My brother died 7 months before she was born. My greatgrandmother died 6 months before my eldest was born. There is some sort of philosophical symmetry there. The cycle of life.

That's sad, ava. I worked with a girl many years ago whose brother went the same way... a waste of a young persons life and very hard on the family.

Back from seeing the doctor. The ECG showed that there is nothing wrong with my heart so that has been ruled out. Next is a 24 hr monitoring of my bloodpressure which will happen on March 16th. The doctor suspects postural hypotension [low blood pressure when sitting and/or standing]. I am also booked in to have a guided cortisone injection at the local hospital on March 2nd.

Ava, what is a guided cortisone injection? are you having dizzy/whoozy/light-headed spells?
