We always have Christmas Dinner here.
We have been lucky every year to have had our 4 kids and partners here.
Not this year though.
3 of them will be here for lunch.........and the other one at tea time.
Not sure how many extras we are having yet.
My niece will be here...........not sure about her kids.........(OMG........her younger 2 are a handful)
And.................we do it all again on Boxing Day.............with a few extras.
I love the lead up to Christmas.............but I actually find Christmas Day and Boxing Day a it exhausting.
I am usually still finding water bombs in bushes and trees at Easter.
What about everyone else.

I don’t like xmas. I try to ignore it, which usually works. One of the stepsons is threatening to come up with his little family after xmas. He is from New Castle where there is a covid outbreak so I’d prefer they didn’t come. I do love xmas lights. I went to Bunnings yesterday, first chance I have had, and they had sold out ! oh Nuts, that reminds me, I bought some seedlings to plant in the veggie garden, hmmm, wonder where I left them......

I might have already said what I'm doing but never mind. I'm doing Christmas for my ex's family. His brother has been doing it for the last several years but doesn't want to take it up this year. I usually go to my sisters. The plan was they wanted to go to the casino for lunch but his mum was horrified. Ex asked me to do it and after a while I agreed because his mum is 90. It would be a shame to not do a home Christmas for her. I've made it as simple as possible for myself though. I've even ordered a cooked turkey which can be picked up in the morning and the rest is cold stuff and seafood from the market.

We will be spending Christmas Day at my youngest son's house in Perth. Our daughter who lives in Busselton is picking us up and will bring us home on Boxing Day.
We were supposed to be having lunch with her in-laws and then going on to Perth for dinner but they are having it at a restaurant and, due to miscommunication, by the time her brother-in-law, who booked it, realised we were coming, the restaurant couldn't squeeze in 2 more seats, so daughter is going to drop us off in Perth and then drive back to Mandurah for the lunch.
I've made a fruit cake, mice pies and little caramel tarts and I'm picking up a fresh fruit platter on Thursday. I'm also doing my 'Christmas village" which I haven't done for some years - little chocolate cakes baked in mini loaf tins and decorated to look like cottages set on a board covered in green icing, with a Christmas tree in the middle and the whole thing liberally dusted with icing sugar snow,

Christmas Day at our house for our family. Most from Canberra. Daughter from Sydney will arrive on Thursday. As she wasn't allowed to travel here last year for Christmas (covid border restrictions) we're so pleased that didn't happen again. 31 deg predicted.. not too bad for this time of year.
Still have to buy most of the fresh food (prawns, berries, salad ingredients etc) closer to the day.

I'm doing a test drive on cooking a crayfish today. Whatsit's friend is a cray fisherman and he gave us five crayfish for the Christmas table. They are uncooked and frozen, so he said put them upside down in a bowl while they defrost for a couple of hours. That makes the black gunk run out of their heads Then leave them to finish defrosting in the fridge, then cook them in boiling water for about 7 minutes. Wish me luck! I also think he said to put them in an ice bath after that to stop them cooking but I'll have to google that. I'll do the rest Friday and then if ex wants to grill a couple on the bbq that will be okay too.

Well, it's happening, but it's not black gunk. It's actually blue so it must be blood because crays have blue blood. I'm sure you are all interested
