this year I have been doing a lot of digital stuff rather than making things but i am having a crafting afternoon with a couple of great nieces next week - i will post pics of what we make.

Too true!  My Secret Santa gift for my DIL has turned into a real saga. She's a besotted cat person, so I ordered her a book off Ebay called Louis Wain's Cats. It's a hard back biography with lots of full colour plates, about Louis Wain who was famous for his cat pictures . (Thanks to my grandmother, who worked for The Illustrated London News, I have his original pen and ink drawing for an illustration of cats in the Battersea Cats Home which appeared in that publication back in thee 1890s) Anyway - long story short - after about a week the seller cancelled my order and refunded me with an apology saying he'd been let down by his supplier and couldn't guarantee delivery before Christmas. that was on 8th Nov. I hunted around franticly for another seller and on 29th ordered the same book from The Book Depository in England. Now they tell me they are having problems too and haven't been able to dispatch it yet. I don't want to cancel again as I know she'll really love the book, so I've printed off a copy of the cover and synopsis and put it into a clear fronted file which I'll have to give her instead as a sneak preview. |
