It’s just that I never look in the regular forum- I always check out the bad peep forum and I forget that sometimes we have other things to talk about

This was the c/p text I sent to all my friends and family on Monday
I finally saw on the news about the flooding in Waverly. When I first moved here I would go there at least once a month because that’s the closest Bank of America to me. After a year or two of driving 1.5 hours to go to the bank, I switched banks. Anyway, it’s a small town, smaller than Lexington. Not too close to the interstate - like Lexington. Loretta Lynn grew up in the next town over. It’s been over a decade since I’ve been there. I remember they had a Walmart and a liquor store and that was about it. Plus Bank Of America. It was surrounded by medium sized mountains and reminded me of the SF Valley on a super tiny scale.

So now a few days later… That town has been destroyed.
History~ It was a booming town 50 to 100 years ago. The railroad went right through it. And then when they built the interstate they built it about 20 to 30 miles too far away.
It was a sweet and unassuming town. I remember how nice the bank people were to me. And how they worked so hard to get me that loan I needed in 2008.
That was also the town that I had killed that squirrel (15 years ago!!!). The 2nd time I had ever accidentally killed an animal.
Because it’s quite local to me they keep showing the pictures on TV and it keeps making me cry.
They interviewed this lady who lost her two dogs in the house and I couldn’t help but think of BucK and Lily.
But.... This is my C/p to my bff in California
But!!!!!! I live on the mostly flat portion of a hill (like a Mesa but different). That’s why it always sucks so badly in the winter trying to come home on snow or ice because it’s all uphill. Plus my house is over 5 feet off of the ground. 10 feet in the back. There could be a 5 foot flood come through and it would never even reach my driveway. So my dogs are safe.

Good to hear you are fine Dawn.
The TV footage here in Aus and the story about the 2 little
babies losing drowning was just too horrible and sad.
