Woolies are allowing govtBenefit card holders exclusive access to the supermarket for an hour each morning. Glad to see something practical being done to help. I did have thoughts of getting up at sparrows fart this morning and being at the supermarket when the doors opened, but I’m too lazy. I might wash the cat today.

The 77 year old that died yesterday is a bit scary. She was on a plane, apparently fine, then developed symptoms and died just hours later. Cripes

my husband just rang me from a supermarket... we can't get any of what we wanted there and he said it's packed,, this is at 10 am
now I'm wishing I'd stockpiled some cat food etc.
I've asked him to ask at the register if and when they'll be re-stocking today

“The number of new cases of COVID-19 in Victoria jumped by 14 overnight to 71” That’s a big jump I noticed the shopping centres are much quieter, except for the supermarkets also.

Mr F was at Aldi prior to opening this morning. He said there were about 50ty by the time the doors
opened. That's a lot for here. He was able to get chicken wings for Bonnie ( we already have a stock of
her food) mince, chicken thighs, snags, so stocked up well with what we already have. Tomorrow will be
milk bread and rolled oats. We have also had so much rain it's unbelievable after such a dry spell.

My sister said a bus load of people came up from Melbourne and hit the Coles store in Albury. Bright was also cleaned out by non-locals.
Bit rude.
I’m a bit annoyed that HNE Health is not being a bit more open about where the 5 cases have been found. HNE region stretches from New Castle to the Qld border. I don’t know whether it’s safe to go to tafe tomorrow or not. I know one of my teachers flew to Brisbane for the weekend. That freaks me out a bit.
*note to self : get He who thinks he’s boss to make a bloody will.

Our local store has implemented a time for elderly, disabled people to go in and shop which is great.
I still think they should close all schools, uni's ect.

Bit rude. I Think it is a bit rude as well, but some people just don't care

The Chief Minister here (ACT) said they are not going to close the schools down, not yet anyway.. because if they did they'd be closed for the rest of the year?
Don't get that.. because the kids would miss so much of the curriculum there wouldn't be able to complete the school year and have to repeat the whole year next year?

Deb said... I've asked him to ask at the register if and when they'll be re-stocking today
I know Coles stores have changed their hours to closing at 8pm starting tomorrow.........I presume Woolworths will too.
With all this craziness they cant restock properly.
The amount of people in the stores is crazy............all hours......taking stuff as they put it on the shelves.
I have a family member who works in management at Coles.
They are putting in 13 hours a day.............(and they dont get paid for the extra hours)
They are getting abused constantly by customers who are upset they cant get the things they want to buy.
They are having to deal with their work team being stressed................not enough hours.....not enough stock.
They nearly threw their job in last week in frustration......(there is only so much you can take before it starts to get to you)
No way would I want to be a retail worker at the moment

So true flashie. My neighbour (Woollies manager) is really struggling. He hadn’t really got over the stress the bushfires caused and now this.

coles and woolies are probably the only businesses making any money atm.... they really need to be putting on more staff to cope with this madness.
hopefully the early closing will help them restock Flashie..... I do feel for the staff
on the other side of the retail spectrum... my daughter only sold one item on Sunday... another store sold none.. I can't see them staying open with figures like that, and it's a big brandname too

Eldest daughter in Sydney is working from home as from today. Her employer did put some support staff off though (she got to keep hers).. offer - take unpaid leave until work can be resumed at the office or redundancy.
OH workplace will probably start working from home.. don't think they've tested the system yet to see if work can be done at home though.

One of our sons office is on a 1/3 on 2/3 off system, so he’s only going in every third day and working from home the other two. I think the theory is that if someone becomes infected, and their colleagues have to go into isolation, they still have a viable staff level to keep business going.

Mr F went to the WW happy hour this morning. What a mess he said there
were people everywhere empty shelves and no checking the customers for
legit entry. So a big fail in organisation and stock. He did manage to get some
long life shelf milk, tissues, wipes, and rolled oats. Scott no idea seems to think
in 6 months time we will all be holidaying in Hawaii.

We hit the Bunbury Farmers Market early this morning - no big problem except we couldn't get our usual milk an had to buy larger bottles. They told me there was a bit of a rush started yesterday - I am told people have started driving down from Perth to 'raid' our stores - but there was still plenty of meat, bread etc. I did a little bit of doomsday prepping - some freezable instant meals, a couple of twin packs of pepper steak pies and a large quiche which, with extra vegies will do us two meals. I have to brave Woolies sometime today to grab a couple of things they don't stock at the Farmers Market so it will be interesting to see what things are like there..

I did one of those silly polls on twitter today that asked have you done any panic buying. The choice was between Yes, heaps yes, just a little bit No, not at all I picked just a little bit because I did stock up on meats yesterday. Not a lot but for a few days. If I see tp and tissues on the shelves I would buy a pack or a couple of boxes. Otherwise I haven't really. When I saw the result, just about all had said no, not at all. What a bunch of liars
