Had what I THINK is epiphany. It's about... the sanctity o' life! FTR? I've ALWAYS HATED the idea/reality of abortion. I'm pro choice because it's not my choice . the reality of changing the law is driving it underground .. shady barely-qualified backstreet operators or a quick trip o'seas for the wealthier ones .. they will only stop the optics not the reality on the ground .

Part of the problem is those who are most vehemently against abortion are usually against any kind of meaningful sex education. (purity parties and just say no) I think somewhere in their puritanical little minds they view pregnancy as a punishment for sexual pleasure.

" I'm pro choice because it's not my choice ...."
DEFINITELY.
Dictating an individual womans'... humans' choice?
"...the reality of changing the law is driving it underground ..."
That's only one "reality".

If you read & hear what they're saying, stinkfinger can commit any atrocity he wants as long as YOU CAN'T KILL ALL THOSE BABIES!
That's what I've been hearing, anyways.

Well, some love to have an endless supply of children born into disadvantage and hopelessness. Need to protect their right to live to prove their unworthiness of the benefit of needing a hand up.
Love them before they are born......loathe them after. Withholding the availability of birth control, let alone discouraging it is hypocrisy beyond belief.
Yes, I realize some abortion occurs among the affluent, but even then I am sure that it a terrible and painful choice to make. There are many reasons why a woman makes a decision to abort and it is her business.
I remember seeing a program some years ago of poor women in India so disparate that they had abortions in the back streets. So disparate that they subject themselves to the barbarism and high risk of death. It is heart breaking.
And yes, there are women who abort as a matter of convenience....they are rare. If forced to give birth what chance is there that they would nurture a child?
I agree with penny that there is an element of control, power and punishment involved not the professed love of the sanctity of life. If love is the issue why the distain for social services for the unfortunate?
Education and health care too.....for us all.... would be nice.
Put you money where you mouth is...…
End rambling rant.

That man, the reporter who stepped into the Saudi embassy in Turkey and never came out is a scary story
Though the Saudis deny any involvement.. Turkish authorities have film of 15 Saudis ( who they describe as an elite hit squad) arriving by private jet... And a black van leaving the embassy, then the men boarding the jet again and flying out

Can you believe it (well yes you probably can) the RWNJs over there on RU are trying to convince us (and themselves) that the pipe bombs were a false flag scare perpetrated by liberals.

i have a visitor, so only half hear the politics on the radio, so i was thinking about the upsurge of hate crimes in the US and the recent church attack.....thinking about trump and wondering if he was connected (because hate crimes have burgeoned since his election) ......and then i heard it, the connection, and i said "and there it is", and my visitor wondered who i was talking to........the killer was obsessed with jews and with trump's hatred of the caravan of people moving towards the US, and the trigger was that there is a jewish group which is showing compassion towards and working to house immigrants

The U.S. mid terms are here sooner than I thought. They say they'll have the results Wed. night our time.. it should be interesting., don't forget to go and vote everyone who can
I can't imagine voting not being compulsory and people not bothering to vote. The suffragettes fought hard for the women's right to vote

But what about the people who have no idea what's going on and vote because they like a name or want to vote their "party"?
Compulsory voting? No. Test requirements to vote (like a drivers license)? Yes!

I know it's not over yet.. But it looks like the Democrats will take control of the house and the Republicans keep control of the senate

What a weird election... The democrats picked up a heap of seats in the house.. But also lost 2 in the senate, not sure what it all means but that shows there's still a big divide in the U.S.
