I have to try & save this story from the 80's, I think...
I got this manual machinist job, in the early 80's, in an historical seaport town on the Massachusetts coast.
A family-built, precision tool-making shop,
started on the 3rd floor
of an old ( 1850's ) brick-&-timber-built mill.
I TOILED there, swing-shift ( 3:30 to when we got done.)
It was an AMAZING time in manufacturing & I was GROOOVING on doing "TANGIBLE"!!!
The point?

I have to say why I'm putting this here. I just roasted a leg of lamb for the boys for dinner tonight. Roast lamb bread rolls with squashed roast potatoes, a favourite for them. I put some scrappy bits aside for Baloo. He always gets some left overs but he never begs at dinner. He knows that he must wait until everyone has finished eating, but boy, does he drool when it's roast night. I looked at him looking drooly and panicky in case it was all gone and I said to him... The song got stuck in my head after that  |
