I missed a page turn. Deb, that rose is just beautiful. It looks like it would be a highly perfumed one too?

I love the chickens...so cute
Carmella, you don't usually see roses like that growing in local gardens (or I just walk around with my eyes shut). I wonder if they require special pruning and care, like getting rid of some buds to ensure the remaining flower grows long and strong, or if it is just a natural way the rose grows?

sorry prim, i didn't get back to this thread.
my bestie has that rose growing in her garden . and there is no special care needed as that is how it grows.

Thanks Carmella, I think I will spoil myself by buying a Kardinal, if they are available these days.

I've been having to water my pot plants... but today Im going to have to water the garden. my big camellias are looking a bit sad... all in full flower atm too
It's so dry here already, we've only had a fraction of the rain we usually get over the past few months

It seems I am going to have to wait until next year to get a Kardinal unless I want to do a lot of fiddling with couriers. I guess I can wait :( Patience is a virtue, right?

It's perfect gardening weather here atm. we had in the garden an evergreen tree shading the veranda, it's called an "Irish Strawberry tree" and has been here forever, but unfortunately I noticed the roots and the base of the trunk had rotted. It's been slowly deteriorating for a few years, but it was definitely getting a lean to it and was sort of loose, so, I decided it had to go before it fell.. It looks so ugly without it so I'll have to find a fast growing replacement... It will be a problem for my other plants there that are usually shaded from the hot summer sun too. I really hate removing trees
Any suggestions on fast growing evergeens with non-invasive roots?
