You can give them a dunk in water once a week, or spray them with a mist. If humidity is high, they don't need to be watered.
They get most everything they need from the air.
They aren't as fragile as they look.

Do you mean you don't need to put them in soil? How weird!

That’s right joono. That’s the reason I chose it. The hanger is so light and delicate I didn’t want to fill it with moss or matting. They are amazing plants - if I can get them to grow. The ones I have got are just babies atm.

I just have this little one, received as a present. It sits on kitchen windowsill which doesn't get any direct sun (shaded by patio roof) I spray/mist it in summer every day (sometimes dunk it in water once a week in summer, then put it in a sieve to dry..the base goes bad if kept wet). Occasional spray/mist other times. It's 2 1/2 years old.. same size as I got it mostly. As it is very hot/dry here in summer those aren't the best conditions for it. I've just noticed it putting out some new leaves now that the weather has cooled down. Maybe google care for those particular ones, Kay... if they're going to be in sun.. check that that is suitable for them Attachment Deleted.

I hope it grows faster than that! They are tiny now. I picked the one that said it should grow where I have it and is good for beginners 😀

Constant hacking Covering them with a bag or board (no sun)

as far as i can tell, they are elm saplings, since there are elms in the yard next door, and behind my back fence. the problem is that they grow so FAST! they hit knee height on me in 3 weeks, 2 weeks when we actually get rain. what i need is something that i CAN put on the whole lawn that will suppress them. i know there IS something, i just can't figure out the right search terms to find it. they are causing issues with the city threatening to make me pay for them to" mow" and put a lien on my house ... sorry, i'm a little stressed out right now. it's WAY too hot for us to do any kind of yardwork without ending up in the hospital, especially dealing with the very strenuous work we did 3 years ago to deal with it. i just don't understand why i can't have as many trees as i please on MY land...

dawnie, my BFF plans to just cement over the biggest problem areas, and possibly the whole damned back yard. and we WILL go to the news for help, people are losing the homes they've lived in and paid for just because the city contracts this out now, and won't help anyone. i'm very angry, and i'm not alone anymore , after posting on facebook about this. but i'm still going to have to pay money i don't really have in order to get this resolved before the 16th...it SUCKS.

That does suck! It reeks of California and the government controlling the land you own.
I didn't know Kansas was like that.
Mine are pines, poplars and sweet gum. I wouldn't mind them if they didn't ruin the plumbing. They grow really fast too. And yes the heat is unbearable, seems like all yard work must be done by 9am.
A big block of cement might work? Like build the block on the tree to suffocate it? I've tried sprays and it doesn't work. I'm always thinking of a way to suffocate them.
Plants need water and light. Must deny them both.

GLORIOUS UPDATE! i have an angel! i mean really, my young friend angel is coming over tomorrow to tackle the yard for us! he saw my plight on facebook and decided to help his "chicamomma" out, in return for breakfast and a ham& au gratin potato casserole. HE is a good christian , alderman in his church, AMAZING dad to 6 kids, fabulous husband and he coaches/mentors young folks in the aztec football league too. and he doesn't have a problem with my religion, or curtis's lack of religion. he knows we're good people, we've known him since he was 16, and helped him when he was down and out. that's all he cares about, being good to others when you can. he's also getting the team and his church involved with helping others here in my district to whack the trees and weeds, in return for a smile and a thank you that's sincere. and they'll get that, for sure! good people, my angel and his church, yes they are!

My sister gave me a garden statue awhile ago, but it was black (there was a time when black garden statues were the "in" thing.).. I tried to get used to it, but I just did'nt like it, so I painted it white yesterday... I hope it looks better when it's weathered a bit... the statue is called " my first cami".. it's a little girl holding out her skirt.. will find a photo on the net and post it later when I'm on my PC.
We' ve started the preparations for the sandstone pillars to go in

Real Christians don't care what religion someone else is, or a lack of religion.
I won't go there, too much, lol it's a garden thread!
I tackled the majority of the grass yesterday. Maybe I'll remember to take a picture when it's daylight. Today I'm going to spray weeds, which I hate to do, but there's so many. Only one of me.
I used to be on top of everything in CA with my 1/8 of an acre. If I wasn't, my neighbor would complain.
I tell this story too much:: one time (this is way more than 10 years ago) she poached errrrr I mean approached me to complain about wild birds. She was a concrete kind of lady, and had no plants other than a cactus or two. All gravel and concrete. I had vines and designer palm trees and ... I wanted it to be a tropical jungle, and it was.
Unfortunately the birds were flying over her property and it was all my fault.

Deb I am thinking your black statues look different than the southern ones.
I'm not into garden ornaments anymore but I did buy a pink flamingo at the dollar store. I don't know what came over me. I just had the urge.
Google vintage southern lawn jockey images (it's a hassle for me to post pics 😐).

It's not so much that she was weird, just wired differently.
She hated nature. Loved a concrete jungle.
In a similar vein~ I took a 10 second video of a tree, not so much for the tree aspect, but the sounds of nature.
I texted it to my bff in ca.
Dawn: turn up the volume on this super short video, no need to watch it. Beautiful nature sounds!
(2 hours lapse after we had already communicated)
Dawn: dear Dawn, awesome sounds! Dawn: I know, right? Suzy: sorry I don't have time to listen to it. I will try at lunch. Super busy day, you know how it is. Monday's are the worst. So much to do.
And I'm thinking it took longer than 10 seconds for her to text why she can't listen to 10 seconds of calming sounds. She's wired to be in that hustle bustle atmosphere and doesn't stop to smell the roses. I was always out of place when I lived in so cal.

Yes, and there are other variations.
Way too many people have those around here
I like your statue and yes it would be better in white or off white (like ivory-ish).
