This concept has a great deal of appeal to me, given what I do for a living, of course.....the idea of being able to see the future. Even seeing mere moments into the future can mean millions of dollars if you're doing something like trading the futures markets on the minute charts....Think about it...If I could see a minute or two into the future, I'd come up with a winning trade every time....I'd just need to adjust my targets to how much it's going to move in the following minute and I'd have an endless stream of cash...
Fortunately, I've found a way to do this, or approximate this ability using patterns rather than psychic prediction...a process which I've been describing down in the trading forum....Still, the idea that the future is already known in a larger mind out there, is and endlessly appealing idea....
Now, I've actually had an insight on the nature of time, via an out of body experience I had when I was much younger. I noticed that time is only a linear concept via the perceptions of the physical body.....but the non-physical mind has no construct or limitations....Time then, is merely an illusion created by the processes associated with the physical body...We have only a limited time as physical beings, and then the body dies, so I do believe there is a built in mechanism that measures time, within the physical brain.....We have this internal clock......But with mind, it's a different story. There is no linear time, because the mind is a non-physical entity....There is no beginning or end with the idea of mind....
Now regardless of our religious opinions, let's take that idea to the ultimate level.....Imagine all the minds that exist, human and non-human.....connected into one combined mass unconscious mind....I believe psychoanalyst Carl Jung had a similar concept called the collective unconscious.....One big hive mind that sees all thought....and we're all somehow tied into this collective mind.....like the Borg mind, to the Star Trek fans out there.....
Well, let's just flip our understanding of things around a bit, and say that instead of seeing reality as it occurs, let's say that this collective unconscious, hive mind CREATES the reality it wants to perceive.....Just go with me for a second here on this idea....If such a mind exists that sees all, and is responsible for all of creation by what it thinks, wouldn't we be equally justified in calling this collective unconscious THE CREATOR, or GOD? And we're all a tiny part of this massive mind that creates, by mere thoughts...
Well....for the sake of argument, just imagine how time would be perceived by such a mind, where mere thoughts instantly create the reality....A thought of the past would instantly be created and happening in the present.....A thought of the future would be, in the same sense, happening in the present.....So, there would really be no delineation in time between past present and future....ALL are happening at once in the mind of the collective unconscious Creator of all realities that exist...
So, linear time may ONLY be an illusion created by our perception of being in the physical state......In reality, there is no linear time......which means, we could tap into the future since we are a part of the collective, if we could only tap into this greater unconscious mind.....
So that's the theory here.....This may be why Derren Brown's experiment works, or simply, it was a trick, as he implies at the end....If he was an honest experimenter, it would be interesting to know the truth, but his business is deception.....so, the question is still out there. Are we looking at an experiment that shows this greater mind at work? Or, are we looking at a cheap trick......I guess I'd rather believe in the former than the later...
