Okay, I can breath again now.
I’ll have to watch again but I think a lot more favourites survived than I expected. We lost Jorrah and Lyanna Mormont (how awesome was she?), Theon (sob), Melisandre, Beric Dondarrion and the entire Dothraki Horde. I think the others made it - phew. I was a bit confused by Jon and Daenerys just flying around aimlessly for most of the time and had no idea how Arya got into the library or why Bran wharged off for a bit, but ..........
So Arya is Azor Ahai reincarnated. Interesting.

So it is ultimately going to be a fight for the Iron Throne. I’m unsure how they are going to reboot next week to shift our attention from the Night King to Cersei. I reckon if I’d beaten the undead I’d be pretty confident against her and her mercenaries

Cy It was hard to watch today's episode Kay, it was dark and purposely out of focus to add to the confusion What's going to happen next with Cersei, I just don't know, and Arya's saving the day was amazing... my heart just sank when Jon was running toward the "night king" who raised his arms One of the things .i picked up on watching it the 2nd time was "the hound". He was standing in that corner because of his fear of fire.. and John's dragon...I'm not sure what happened to it

I think the two “live” dragons are ok. The blue one, of course, disintegrated when the NK perished.

The hound was always going to survive. He’s booked in for Cleganebowl sometime in the next couple of weeks

that was the biggest theory, the alternate universe thing, with a gate so they could enter their original world. lost is on hulu, all 6 seasons, if you'd like to watch it again. you can get a free month's trial , binge it and cancel! *and now, back to our regular programming* Thanks for the tip! I'll have to look into Hulu! anytime cy, glad to help. while you're there, check out castle rock, you'll love it!

There was so much action it was hard to keep up. I don't really know what I feel but I would rather have not had the flying dragon scenes as I thought they took away from the individual dramas down below. I have a feeling there are some great scenes lying on the cutting room floor due to time constraints, which didn't make for easy viewing either.

I actually think that was deliberate. We were meant to be confused and anxious about what was going on. I just saw my nieces name in the closing credits she is a very talented young woman. She works in post production.

I can say we were on the edge of our seats the entire time watching it which is a how the Producers wanted it, nicely done and to have Arya take out the Night King was awesome, unexpected but still brilliantly done. I think a few fans are disappointed it wasn't Jon directly.
They did say "No one can kill the Night King and well no one did" the girl is no one.
Kay I don't think she is Azor Ahai, but it depends on how literal you want to take the prophecy, Jon did rally everyone together to put an end to the Night King and the White Walkers even if he didn't kill him by his own hand.
Haven't watched it again but might do so again sometime this week.
Something I saw again when rewatching the first episode was Cersi drinking Wine, in the last episode of the last season when she didn't in front of Tyrion he knew she was pregnant so I am assuming that because she is drinking Wine that she is no longer or possibly never was pregnant.
I don't know if all the Dothraki are dust but some did make it back and who is to say she hasn't got some more stashed away somewhere, afterall the Second Sons are still in Essos if Daenerys needs them to prop up her troops.
I did tip Theon and Jorah to bite the dust and watching Jorah die in Danny's arms was heartbreaking you could really feel her heartache and pain as he's been with virtually since it began.
How badass was little Lady Lyanna Mormont at the end? so many great scenes in this episode can't wait to watch it again.

Deb if you watched the trailer for next weeks episode there is a scene with Rhaegal flying overhead so still two Dragons left and so is Ghost who was also in one of the scenes in the trailer.

I'm glad Ghost has survived (one of our cats is named after him). I was heart-broken when and how the other wolves were killed throughout the series

A fan page I read today suggested that Arya is pregnant with a child by Gendry (Baratheon) who will become the Prince that was Promised. Not sure about that one 😏

That insulted my intelligence. It's wrapping up and it's showing. You cannot hack the AOTD. It's futile. How can you beat by arm strength an army that reanimates and even grows from your own dead? That was simply never giong to work. Never ever never.
Fire. Fire was always the key. Jon knew that. Hell he demonstrated it for everybody in the old dragon pits. Fire fire and more fire. Each person should've had fire pots in both hands, kicking a fire pot and dragging a fire trough behind them and a cigarette lighter in their pockets just in case. Fire fire fire was their only chance.
Now they had a little fire, but as I've been saying that should've had a LOT of fire. Their little flaming anti-calvary spikes (yes that was anti-calvary against the AOTD) were doomed. The dead have all eternity. They could have just waited for it to be exhausted. Instead what they did do was put it out with their bodies. Point being it was doomed. Fire fire fire and more fire was the key.
And Ayra leaping out of nowhere was another insult. Sure she's a baddass assassin killer but to get close enough to leap on the NK? And for that matter why leap? She's a markman with thrown or shot projectiles. She demonstrated that for Gendry, showing off. And why did the NK expose himself like that anyway? He's thousands of years old but that stupid? He knows, or should know, his unstoppable force is ONLY stoppable one way. His death. He's walking down the middle of battlefields out in the open, walking around dark places looking for Bran. Those are the big things, there're dozens of others but those large matters left me feeling insulted. I can suspend belief, you have to to be able to watch and enjoy the show, but I can only go so far before I demand things make real-world sense.

Couldn't they just summon a dragon? That's what I would have done. Let the dragon do the heavy lifting, I say.

We were shown that although the AOTD were vulnerable to fire, the NK wasn’t. Rhaegal showed us that.
They knew they were never going to beat the AOTD with force. As had been shown at (I think) the Fist of the First, the only way to destroy them forever was to extinguish their “maker”. The plan was always to lure the NK in via Bran. Quite how they were then going to kill him wasn’t quite so well thought out ......
From the moment of Ned’s beheading Arya has been destined to do something great. This was her time. This is why she learned from Jaqen H'ghar and fought with the waif. I loved the reference back to Syrio Forel. “There is only one god and his name is Death, and there is only one thing we say to Death, Not today”

Arya is my daughter's favourite... did you notice the wind and the NK's general turn his head before she appeared landing on the NK... that was Arya leaping through the air. Jon Snow must've been trying to make it to the tree where Bran was... that's the only reason I can think of that he didn't jump on the dragon when Daenarys landed it to rescue him... will she forgive him for that... it nearly cost her her life and caused the death of Jorah bostondave... nobody can fight death

Deb I thought at times Jon was going to try and get on Viserion as strange as that was to get to the Night King.
Dave remember the girl has many faces and when she was in the library she shoved a knife up through the jaw of a white walker which bled all over her, now if I go with maybe like in TWD where they've used walker blood to get past walkers before, the same theory could be applied here for her to get past the NK's Generals but hey maybe they'll explain that one in next weeks episode who knows, it's just a thought. Plus remember back to the Red Wedding we never saw that coming what happened, so that could be a play in that as well as we would never expect to happen what did or how it played out, that's the whole point in a way, it would be to predictable if it played out how you might expect.
We watched it again tonight, still loved it and am looking forward to the next battle.

Well there're levels and more levels to this shit. I think I read something since about the NK being not really vulnerable to VS EXCEPT in the spot where those ancient ones buried the dragon stone that made him - his gut. I actually remember that and can actually buy into it. So that would explain why should couldn't just throw or shoot something at him. To be sure it had to be guided in close into his guy. I can actually dig it. BUT he still should not have exposed himself like that.
So but that still leaves the terrible battle strategy they employed. And who the hell was the overall commander? You need an overall commander. It wasn't Jon, he was in the fight fighting for his life for most of it. Ditto Dany.
I still say it should've been fire fire and more fire. With fire on top. Every person should have had two fire weapons. They should have threw away their cold steel weapons. They were no good against the wights. I guess I've got a limit to just how far I'm willing to suspend belief.
